We both chuckled to ourselves a bit.

"Well, I could've already guessed it. She's glaring at you like you're a pervert or something,"

I blushed slightly at her comment.

"Ah, it seems I was spot on…."

"Hey, girls, I'm gonna go to Mia's house for a bit. Don't come out, and I'll make sure I won't die," Lucy says, and before any of us could refute, she warped using the necklace.

…

(Lucy POV)

"Oh, it's more than I expected," I mutter, looking through Mia's bedroom window.

New York City had utterly fallen.

Buildings were on fire. The streets seemed to be torn apart. Corpses littered the streets. Most buildings had topped over. Cars were abandoned as the drivers desperately escaped.

But most importantly… Portals seemed to have engulfed every space possible.

They were of all sizes, and the monsters that crawled out of them were of all sizes, strengths, and powers.

Some breathed fire while another swung its massive club made from wood home to their dungeon.

"*sigh*... How are we supposed to find him now," I muttered to myself, and not long after, my pen phone buzzed in my pocket.

I swiftly took it out and noticed it was another notification, but before I could even tap onto it to see what it was about, it opened by itself… revealing the man I hate the most.

"For all the countries across the world seeing this, I would like you to know that New York has become the center of the Write family. This is where our reign begins… And I will only warn you once… Do not come here unless you want to die,"

My blood began to boil just from taking a glance at the man's face.

I wanted to shove my sword straight through his head. I wanted to freeze him to death slowly and then revive him, torturing him once again.

"*sigh*... I need to discard these useless thoughts… But at least one thing is confirmed," I mutter to myself, reviving some of the corpses of a few guards that were in Mia's room.

The maid is probably dead, and the person who cut my hair is probably dead as well… But I'll check just in case.

As I stepped out of Mia's room, I noticed there were even more corpses, so I revived them.

Even more, littered the hallways, but I couldn't revive anymore as my mana had reached its limit.

I wanted to conserve just a bit, so I had enough to at least defend myself a little bit, allowing me to use the necklace.

"All of you, attack the Central News Station," I give the undead following behind me one order.

And without hesitation, they walked out of the mansion, their dark green flames burning in excitement.

I felt guilty… Guilty that I didn't feel anything from their deaths. I wanted to be sad because their overwhelming kindness and treatment was something I had never experienced…

On that day, I noticed something died inside of me.

…

(Mia POV)

Lucy came back to the base after a few hours, but she seemed a bit different, and after we had made a complete connection with the hivemind, we noticed the same problem.

After Lucy informed us of the situation outside, we tried to pinpoint the weird feeling inside us.

"Sadness… Maybe," Ethel says.

"Okay, who lost one of their emotions," Clio says.

"Probably me," Lucy responds, her eyes strangely blank.

"How… How did you do that?" Celestine says, rubbing the bridge of her nose, clearly annoyed but everyone, including her, seemed calmer than they expected.

"I don't know," Lucy shrugs, going to make some ramen for herself.

"Hey… You checked, right?" I asked Lucy, but she didn't turn around, even when she replied.

"They're dead,"

I felt nothing as well.

I wanted to cry, but no tears came out. I just looked at the floor blankly, tightly gripping the blanket in my hands.

…

(Lucy POV)

The full hivemind was strange… or maybe it wasn't even complete yet, as we could still tap into the server to share our thoughts.

We haven't become one consciousness as we had initially thought.

"We're leaving tomorrow. I know where the Write family head is, and this might be the only opportunity we have… Plus, you girls seem fine now," I announced, and the girls had no rejections.

Everybody was strangely calm, juxtaposed with their previous miserable self.

…

"It doesn't feel real," Mia says as we suit up with some of the gear we had brought to the base.

It was the best, but it probably wouldn't matter when facing off against that guy.

"What doesn't feel real?" I ask.

"How we were just living our casual school lives, and now it seems like everything has shattered,"

"I'm sorry…."

"What are you apologizing for,"

"Because this is just my selfish gain. We wanted to take down all the big families in New York, and now that they're gone… We're still going in for a suicidal attempt," I reply.

"It doesn't matter. We all wanted to kill him anyway… They may have lost their ability to be sad… But their anger is still raging," Mia says, and I could practically feel flames coming out of the girls behind me.

I chuckled to myself a bit, and Mia kissed my forehead as everybody had finished changing.

The skeletons have all been wiped out, and let's hope they don't get suspicious that a particular section of the mansion is missing corpses.

VWOOP

We appeared in Mia's room and immediately noticed it was pouring outside.

"Lucy, remind me to buy some techwear next time," Mia says as her face crumples in disappointment.

Our skin-tight body armor, which we wore over our clothes, was wholly waterproof, but our hair was going to get wet.

Some of the girls wore product in their hair, and I guess it would ruin it…

"You shouldn't be concerned with your hair," I suggest.

"But it took me 30 minutes to make my hair this wavy," Astra pouts, but Nell just rudely slaps her in the back of her head.

"Nobody gives a shit," She says as we make our way out of the mansion.

…

(Somewhere near the center of New York)

"Sir, we have completely taken over central New York. The rest of the family is working on suppressing the slight resistance and government workers that were stationed here," A butler suited in black informs.

A man sat at a polished wooden desk, also dressed in a black suit.

His long silky hair flowed past the seat of the office chair he currently sat on.

His features were the perfect mix of feminine and masculine, thus allowing him to earn the title of "The Best Looking Man in New York."

Perfect pale white skin with just a tad of rosiness seemed to have been ironed onto his almost sculpted-like body.

It looked as if it had been sculpted by the gods themselves.

"Will the government pose a threat?" The man asks in a deep tone.

"They should not,"

"Perfect,"

His eyes amber eyes glowed a tad bit as he leaned forward in his chair, resting his forearms against the top of his desk.

Tap… Tap… Tap…

He began tapping the wooden desk as if he was checking for something.

A few minutes passed and he finally strayed from his still position as he glanced up at the butler.

"The government is on their way here," The man says and just after he clicked his tongue, his index finger briskly punctured the wooden desk.

It looked as if a bullet had shot through it as he lifted it out of the hole.

"Would you like me to recall the other family members?" The butler asks.

"No… Let them come. They will be a good example for me to set,"
