“Anyway, Today I shall fill out the form and return home”

I smiled at Leon. Though it was a shame but I was empty-handed today. If you want to join the training you need a sword and armour.

I have to ask father about this. Something that’s similar to everyone else’s.

Or are there designated shops for that?

“Yeah, are you sure?”

Leon smiled wryly.

“I heard the Magic Department wasn’t so easy.”

“Looks like I have to die trying to balance it out.”

A smile came over my lips.

It will be hard but I’ll show everyone! Now at last my long awaited swordsmanship training is possible, too!

Excel in the sword and in magic aiming to arrest Gray!

Before I noticed it myself I started to laugh. After Simon grabbed my shoulder I was able to pull myself together.

Leon watched me with a dumbfounded expression.

“……Please, excuse me”

I lowered my head conscious of the gestures of my upper body just as Cart practiced with me.

After that because I felt like I was watched a little from my surrounding I looked around and smiled at the female students who were watching.

I’m not a strange person. That’s what I wanted to convey.

“It’s fine already so stop lavishing that gracefulness”

After Simon clapped my shoulder hard he grabbed my arm and begun to walk out of the gymnasium.

“What is it?”

I pouted. Ah, Cart prohibited that gesture, right?

I fixed my expression and talked back to Simon.

“I learned that my smile is my greatest weapon.”

“That’s a weapon alright.”

Simon answered my without turning around.

“You, do you maybe have no self-awareness?”

“What?”

“If you have a fiancée, don’t put powder on other girls.”

“Powder?”

What might that powder be? He didn’t reply me.

“Anyway, let’s return and study”

After Simon finally let go of my arm he energetically scratched his head. His back seemed tired.

We were just going to the library on the third floor of the annex building. Simon silently went up the stairs and entered the library first.

Because it’s the first time for me to enter Wexford’s library I was rather interested.

“It’s quite wide”

The bookshelves reaching till the ceiling, standing at a wall were filled to the brim with books. Furthermore, there were bookshelves evenly spaced out in the centre space.

But there weren’t just general books. There were books such as dictionaries, history books and philosophical literature.

Where might the magic books be?

While I looked around restlessly and walked about as if I was lost Simon opened his textbook on a table near a window.

“Anyway, let’s do today’s homework first.”

Simon took out his magic textbook for the first grade. The homework of today’s class is to read and write basic magic language.

When I sat down on the chair opposite of Simon I decided to open my notebook and start to do my homework.

It was unexpectedly silent in the library. There were a lot of students here concentrating on reading and their own tasks.

“Oh yeah, Simon”

After I finished my homework I asked Simon in a low voice. “Have you ever seen signs like this?”

I began to write some magic language close to the edge of the notebook.

It’s the mirror.

They were the beautiful signs which were shining around the mirror when I talked to Gray.

Because they neither appeared in the textbook of Wexford nor in the books of the Judiciary Station. It was impossible to read them or nullify them.

“I think……Those are too complicated and I don’t really understand them”

After he looked at the notebook I held out Simon looked puzzled.

“I’ve never seen those. What are these?”

“I don’t really understand them either.”

“Hm?”

Simon looked up from the notebook and stared at me. He turned eyes full of questions to me but after he was sure that he wouldn’t get an answer from me he continued to look at the notebook.

While he quietly looked at the magic language on the edge of my notebook he spoke.

“Why don’t you ask your teacher later?”

“Teacher?”

“Ace doesn’t have one? Before you entered Wexford didn’t you study under someone?”

“Aah……”

I studied under a little girl.

I creased the middle of my forehead. Elizabeth’s memory is amazing so she might have seen it but the existence of the mirror might get known by the judiciary station.

It’s impossible.

“Simon’s teacher might be more reliable. Mine is a little……Troublesome.”

“That’s surprising.”

Although he looked slightly suspicious he immediately smiled wryly and continued.

“Well, fine with me. I’m tired from thinking too deeply.”

“I’m sorry”

“Don’t be”

Simon handed me my notebook again and resumed to read in his textbook. While I watched him like that I became a little uneasy.

“Ehm, Simon?”

“Hm?”

His eyes are turning to the bottom.

“I think I’m probably slightly stranger than other people.”

“Hmー?”

He watched me. I felt sorry that I disturbed his studying. But I had to say this.

“You see, I know nothing of the life outside the mansion. I think I’m lacking common sense in some areas because this would be my first time in the outside world. That’s why I might trouble you in various ways. I want you to tell me without reservation if I do. Whenever I act strange or when you think I should do something differently.”

“Well, you might be strange.”

Simon rested his cheek on his hand and looked at me.

“But I think you shouldn’t mind it that much.”

“Is that so?”

“Now that you say it, you hardly got out of your mansion? Were they that harsh?”

“Yeahー”

It was my turn to smile wryly now.

“Rather than harsh they were worried about me. When I was small I caused a lot of problems.”

“Problem?”

I nodded with a serious expression.

“It seems like I fell out of the second-floor window when I tried to sneak out of the mansion to play. So, I was half-dead and I fell unconscious.

“Half-dead……”

Simon opened his eyes wide. There’s no doubt however that he was surprised.

“Because of that incident, I was prohibited to go outside afterward.”

“Aah, that’s why you have that injury.”

Then Simon clapped his hands together. I put my hand to my chest in a hurry.

“This and that are unrelated.”

“A different injury, huh? No wonder your family worries about you when you keep getting hurt that much.”

――The injury on my chest is an imitation.

However, I feel that both mother and father became overprotective after that. Because it’s something I did there’s no helping it.

“So even an existence I could call a friend……”

There was only Claire. But Claire might not think of me as a friend.

To be frank, I even don’t know yet how to refer to Simon and my classmates correctly. My feelings were in a state of chaos.

“I see.”

Simon laughed as if having been troubled.

“Honestly speaking, I might not be suitable to be Ace’s friend because our social background is so different.”

“Social position, huh?”

When I was going to butt in, Simon put up a hand lightly and waved it flutteringly.

“We’re in the same Magic Department so it should be appropriate. It’s fine as long as it’s fun.”

“Yes……Thank you”

The first thing I did the next day was to apologize to the female students who I used as sacrifices for the Drama club the day before.

However, all of them were cheerful. Even when apologizing they didn’t seem to get the meaning at first.

“Ah, yesterday was fun. Thank you!”

The girl with the blond, curly hair immediately showed a smile.

“Rachel-sama is so fantastic~”

I watched her eyes light up while saying something troubling.

Rachel was popular with women!

……Hm?

Isn’t that good?

She seems to be preoccupied with Rachel now. She didn’t seem to be interested in me anymore.

Yes, let’s leave this unattended.

I thought so. That’s the best for my peace.

I stopped by the Swordsmanship Department after school to hand in my application form.

The gymnasium was as noisy as ever. And the Swordsmanship Department’s visitors increased. There many female students, too.

“Ah, excuse me”

I called out to Leon who was near some boys who looked like new students. When Leon noticed me he gave me a soft smile.

“Hey, welcome. Are you alone today?”

“Yeah, well”

Simon has something other to do. He seems to be reading and study in the library. I told him I would stop by the library after this. I can’t participate in club activities now anyway because I have neither a sword no an armour.

But I wanted to confirm something first. I had forgotten to ask about it yesterday.

“I wanted to ask you something.”

I started to talk to Leon as I gave him my application form I had in my hand.

“Which shop would be good to buy a sword and armour from?”

“Aah, its okay.”

I widened my eyes as Leon seemed to have forgotten to explain.

“There shouldn’t be many shops that sell any unique kinds”

He said this after a moment.

“I buy it wherever”

Suddenly a voice splashed over form the rear. Leon scowled at the rear with a sigh.

“I say that just in case doing business is prohibition in this Academy.”

“I don’t intend to sell.”

When I turn around, Josh stood there all too sudden.

What will he be selling?

When I turned my eyes to Leon he just shrugged.

“Josh is the son of a jeweler. You see, the swords of the Swordsmanship Department of this Academy……”

“Aah, They have jewels embedded in them right?”

I laugh carelessly.

“Because the sword at my mansion don’t have any decorations I was wondering what I should do.”

“Do you want to come look?”

Being overwhelmed by Josh who leaned forward I inched back. This feeling of coercion is partly because of the big height difference.

What’s with that high-pressure salesmanship?!

“Josh”

Leon spoke in a cold voice making Josh’s shoulders drop. It was a somewhat strange atmosphere.

“Ehm, what’s the matter?”

I asked fearfully.
