Ethan was shocked.

The man who had made a clenched-fist salute to Bill was one of the people whom he had always trusted the most, but now, this man stood alongside Bill.

Ethan raised his head and looked around, only to see all of the men who had previously worked for him now working for Bill. He felt helpless in front of these people.

These men, whom he had been very familiar with, were now going against him. The reality of it was unsettling for him.

"You traitors!" a man yelled and spat on the ground. It was one of the two men who remained loyal to Ethan and stood behind him.

Ethan raised his head, signaling the man not to continue.

He had thought that he had a firm hold on the men around them. He hadn't expected Bill to be so resourceful that he was able to take over this place. Assessing the situation, Ethan realized that it was no use blaming these men or talking to them. He decided to keep quiet instead.

Ethan's men shut up at once to obey their boss. Then, Bill began with a smile, "Ethan, are these people all familiar to you? And you must be surprised. But don't be! There are more of them that pretend to be loyal to you, but listen to my orders. You didn't expect that, did you?"

Ethan's face turned gloomy. At last, he understood why Bill dared to go against him so brazenly today. It turned out that Bill had been preparing for this and now could finally make his move. Now, Ethan knew that Bill wanted to convince him that more of his people were under Bill's control, but that wasn't the case.

Still, Bill's ploy was effective. It had destroyed Ethan's confidence in a matter of seconds. Ethan had no idea how many of the people around him were loyal to Bill. If he chose to engage in a fight, he was unsure whether he stood a chance.

While Bill spoke, he looked intently at Ethan. Seeing the unhappiness plastered on his foe's face, Bill flashed a satisfied grin. "Ethan, I've always trusted you. I let you do anything that you wanted, as long as you remained obedient. You're

of the fat man who had kept her locked up just moments, she felt disgusted. She tightened the clothes that Ethan had put on her shoulders around her and quickly obeyed.

The car was parked in the manor's garden. The driver, upon seeing Ethan's face, could not hide his shock. He immediately got out of the car, wanting to give him a hand but could not do so as the two other men were already supporting Ethan from both sides.

They were about to get in when Ethan stopped again and looked at Estelle. "Get in the car."

She glanced at him. She felt as though she had no other option but to obey this man. She knew that she didn't have any other choice but to go with him to the place where he was staying. Without a word, she got into the vehicle.

The driver, aware that Ethan was badly injured, drove at full speed. He had planned to take Ethan to his personal doctor to get his injuries looked at immediately, but halfway to their destination, Ethan interrupted him. "Take her home first," he ordered.

"Ethan, your wounds need to be treated as soon as possible." One of the men immediately spoke.

Ethan, however, insisted, "I know how my body's doing, and I can take it. But the last thing this woman wants is to be in this car with me. So why don't we get her home first?"

Estelle detected pain and a hint of protest in his voice.
