As for Darren's refusal to give him the antidote, Carlos didn't care too much about that. However, Chuck was beginning to worry.

He personally visited Jacob's company. He seemed to be overwhelmed by the dilemma as he said, "Mr. Gu, although the plan you explained to me last time is very good, Darren is now acting unexpectedly. He now insists that the antidote will not be given to my son unless he gets control over the HT Group."

Jacob was not at all surprised by Darren's response because he knew quite clearly what Darren was capable of.

"Director Li, why are you in such a rush? Just as I said the other day, I won't forget about you. You don't even know what poison was used on your son, so how can you even begin to develop an antidote? After our earlier conversation, I sent Sam to F Country to investigate the matter of Carlos's poisoning. I believe there will be news soon," Jacob said.

"Be that as it may," Chuck continued to fret. "My son's life is completely in Darren's hands. What if he finds out that we're in league and refuses to give us the antidote because of that?"

"Now Darren is the one who is asking for your help, not the other way around. You have the initiative. Why should you fear him?" Jacob frowned and impatiently looked at the old man in front of him.

However, it seemed that Chuck didn't notice his impatience, and he continued haranguing, "But..."

"Chuck Li!" Jacob's voice suddenly roared. "Do you think me incapable, or do you overestimate Darren? Which is it? We can't cancel the arrest warrant now. If you dare to cancel it, I swear to you, your son will not live to get the antidote! I'll kill him myself!"

His voice had become so ferocious that it seemed Jacob could kill people with his bare hands. Chuck quivered, realizing that he was facing a formidable enemy, and he rushed to explain, "Mr. Gu, I didn't mean that..."

He was now in a state of utter distress. He was being pushed from all sides and was suffering at the hands of two terrible enemies. It would have been fine if he had been the target, but they were coming after

had loved her very much. He would support and believe in her without any hesitation, no matter what she was doing. But now, he was different. He doubted her, questioned her, and he even acted coldly to her.

This feeling of being unwanted was just like the dream she had previously had. When she fell into the dream abyss, and she was caught in the most desperate moment, Carlos would leave her, moving further and further away.

But she could do nothing about it except to pretend that she knew nothing.

She didn't know whether Cherish was part of the reason for the change in him. But she did know that her own actions were the most important cause.

While she was still thinking about it, Carlos picked up the knife and fork and took a bite of the juicy steak she had cooked. After chewing only once, he looked up with surprise, exclaiming joyfully, "Wow, this steak is so delicious! Nora, your cooking is really good."

Hearing this, Nora cheered up, and her depressed mood quickly vanished. It turned out that her love for him was deep and humble. No matter how badly he hurt her, she could forgive him as long as he smiled at her like that.

Nora flashed a bright smile in return, asking, "Really? I'm glad that you like it. I was afraid that my cooking skills might not be adequate."

"How could that be? This food is really delicious." Carlos quickly devoured two more bites.
