Right now, Estelle had no time to worry about love and feelings. After a moment of shock, she snapped, "Ethan, I'm not in the mood for jokes right now-"

"I'm not messing with you!" Ethan interrupted her. He had a stubborn look on his face.

She took a deep breath and collected her thoughts. "I don't have time to talk about this right now. And if you want to help, you should wait for me to know the whole story, shouldn't you? I need to find out the whole truth first!"

When he heard this, Ethan realized that there was nothing that he could say to her to change her mind. Besides, her argument sounded quite reasonable.

A smile formed on Estelle's face upon seeing Ethan's blank expression. She found him funny. It somehow relieved her, and now, if only for a moment, she no longer felt as alarmed as she had been. With a pout, she said in a calmer tone, "Can you let me through now?"

Upon hearing the softness in her voice, Ethan felt comforted. He asked with a hint of uncertainty, "You mean that you are actually allowing me to help you, right? Are you sure about that?"

He had never been as happy as he was today. He looked deep into Estelle's eyes with anticipation and waited for her answer.

Finally, with a shy look, she nodded.

A second later, she gently pushed Ethan away. This time, he no longer tried to stop her. Overwhelmed with joy, he was too happy to care about anything else.

Just as Estelle was about to walk out the door, something occurred to Ethan. He quickly turned around and earnestly told her, "Hey, if you ever need anything, always come to me first!"

He knew very well that except for himself, she had no one else to turn to for help.

Entering this new chapter of her life did not make Estelle forget about her current problem. She tried to get home as fast as she could. When she arrived, she bumped into Sybil. The woman was speaking on the phone and was on her way out of the house.

"Leonard, please wait for me. I'm on my way to you!" Sybil's voice sounded as sweet as honey, and as she talked, she was beaming with delight. She threw Estelle nothing but a distant glance and did not acknowledge her.

Estelle noticed that aside from the blatant rudeness, Sybil did not display a single trace of guilt.

She couldn't stand such behavior. She turned around, intending to follow Sybil and question her thoroughly.

Anger began to consume her and made her clench her fists, turning her knuckles white. She wanted to grab Sybil by the neck and ask her what the hell she was doing right now! Their father was lying in bed, and Ellen was suffering greatly. Unde

en had preferred to trust Sybil over her when she was in dire need of help.

The thought filled Estelle with wrath. Her heart sank. With a sneer, she spoke through gritted teeth, "Well, I believe you no longer need me then. I won't intrude in your affairs anymore!"

At last, she broke free of Ellen's grip, which had now weakened, and strode away. Disappointment and tears filled her eyes as she moved farther and farther away from her beloved sister.

Suddenly filled with fear, Ellen burst into tears. The thought that her sister would leave her alone terrified her.

As far as she knew, she had no one else in this world aside from her mother and sister. Her sister could do anything. She had managed to sort everything out for their father in the past. Of course, this time, she was certain that Estelle could easily help her out as well.

If Estelle chose to walk away now, Ellen knew that she was as good as dead.

She was too young to be in jail for the rest of her life.

The thought of life imprisonment petrified her. She ran after Estelle, grabbed her arm, and wept. "Sister, I'm sorry. I know that what I did was wrong. I'm terrified. Please don't leave me alone! If you don't help me, my life is over! I was too scared at the time to be logical. I really didn't mean to do anything like that. Please stay and help me!"

Ellen's hysterical cries tugged at Estelle's heart immediately. She stopped in her tracks and furrowed her eyebrows in distress. On second thought, she might have been too sensitive.

She sighed and tried to collect herself.

No matter what, Ellen was her sister. Come what may, she should help her.

Now, even though she was extremely hurt and mad at Ellen, she couldn't just leave her alone.
