The trauma of Cherish's abduction had barely passed, while Nora's death had imposed a significant impact on Carlos. It seemed as if he had walled up his heart. He couldn't open up and share his pain even with Chuck or Leah. He had drifted further into his own despair.

Leah felt more and more dispirited every day. Even if Nora had been killed while saving her son, she still cursed Nora to never reincarnate, because it was due to Nora that Carlos had become so dejected.

In their efforts to arrest Darren as soon as possible and bring him to justice, Chuck was seldom at home. He was busy working together with Jacob in the quest to arrest Darren day and night.

But Darren was too sly. He had gone to ground, and there was no sign of him.

In the office of the Procuratorate of Jingshi City, Chuck was pacing back and forth while he worried about when Darren would be arrested. He had already lit up several cigarettes, one after another, as he smoked inside the hall, filling the space with a thick blue haze.

Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door. "Come in, please." Then, the person outside pushed the door open and walked in. It was Jacob.

As soon as Chuck saw Jacob, he quickly set his cigarette down and hastily made a cup of bamboo leaf tea for him.

"Why have you come here?" Chuck asked in a low voice. He hadn't eaten or slept well these past few days, because he had been occupied with Darren's arrest warrant, and Carlos's situation had also upset him. He had become exceedingly more haggard.

After entering the room, Jacob sat down on the sofa, elegantly crossed his legs, and accepted the bamboo leaf tea from Chuck. In a leisurely tone, he remarked, "Ask the men you have dispatched in search for Darren to return. From today on, we will follow a more secret approach to catch him."

"Then, it will be much more difficult to capture Darren, won't it?" Chuck feared that Darren would just play more tricks on them again. He could not help frowning upon hearing Jacob's order, because he didn't favor this idea at all.

"How's it working for you, trying to capture him with your men running around all over the city? Do you think you can arrest him this way?" Jacob queried with a frown. "After committing his crimes, Darren still managed to escape to safety again. Is he such a fool that he will be waiting to be arrested?"

Chuck glumly shook his head. After Jacob's rebuke, he felt even more confused about what to do next.

Jacob put the tea cup down on the table, and then patiently explained, "Only if we ask our men to stop searching for the time being will Darren let down his guard. As long as he is still alive, we will capture him sooner or later. For now, we need only be patient."

"I'm afraid that he might hurt others. The man is a piece of filth, and nothing is too low for him. He is just like a demon, and he does evil things!" Chuck's face was pale with resentment. He knew that there were many evil people in this world, but Darren was the worst of the lot. He

ession, patients also experience numbness in their ears. This varies from person to person though."

"Hence, is it because of your lacking sufficient competence that you refuse to treat her?" Jacob's eyes darkened, becoming frightening, and his domineering aura made Tim tremble.

"No, it isn't. It is simply because I dare not delay her treatment. If I still continue pretending that she will recover when I'm around her, I would be lying, and it's driving me crazy. I can't offer that she will lead a wonderful life again. I just can't!" Tim spoke frankly to Jacob. He knew without a doubt that he had the responsibility to respect his patents and consider their feelings. However, he couldn't lie to control Emily's condition. This made it complicated for him to treat her.

Jacob's left hand had unconsciously clenched into a fist, until even the phalanges of his knuckles grew white under his skin.

Noticing Jacob's hand, Tim took a deep breath and plucked up the last of his courage to continue, "Or, you'd better ask the psychologist who previously treated your wife for her depression to come and treat her again."

"No way!" Jacob couldn't restrain his anger when he recalled what Taylor had done to Emily previously. He became enraged, because Taylor was the one who had made Emily's condition progressively worsen.

Thus, he rejected Tim's suggestion without even considering it.

Tim felt dismayed, because for a successful outcome, psychological interventions needed the cooperation of the patients and their families. Emily's act of feigning that she had recovered was proving unhelpful to any of the therapeutic options that Tim had tried to implement.

"The first psychologist who treated your wife has had a significant impact upon her, and she knows more about how your wife's symptoms have developed. I hope that you will consider my suggestion carefully and won't end up doing anything that you will regret!" Tim believed that he had made his stance on the matter clear to Jacob.
