Hearing this, Emily's heart felt deeply touched. She licked her lips nervously and took the fluffy puppy from Louis, asking, "Have you decided on a name?"

"Not yet," Louis answered.

"Then let's name her Emi." Emily buried her nose in Emi's fur and said, "She smells good."

While they were bonding, the housekeeper brought the pork rib hotpot and sauces and set them on the table one by one. Emily passed the bowls and chopsticks to Taylor and Louis, smiling. "You're really so considerate that you've even brought the food yourself even though you've come to visit us."

"That's because your brother wants to eat hotpot!" Taylor chuckled.

Just as Taylor finished speaking, Jacob entered from outside. He took off his coat, and Emily hurried up to him, saying, "Jacob, look who's here!"

Emily smiled broadly with her arms gesturing at Taylor to show Jacob, as if she was a distinguished guest.

Jacob glanced at Taylor, then he walked to Emily and took her hand instead. He answered in an ambiguous tone, "As long as you are happy!"

Even though Jacob resented Taylor, he could see how much Emily had recovered under Taylor's treatment. Emily's reactions were still somewhat lethargic, but her smile had returned at last after several weeks of depression.

Even though Jacob was happy that Emily was recovering, his answer had clearly revealed his attitude towards Taylor.

He couldn't forgive Taylor's betrayal, but he was willing to make a few concessions for Emily's sake.

"Yes!" Emily nodded with a smile, and, still holding Jacob's hand, she moved to sit on the chair. Taylor had been warm and relaxed before Jacob came in. Now, she suddenly began to act quite unnatural. The hand holding her chopsticks even trembled several times. If it were not for Louis, who helped her to dish up some food into her bowl, she probably would not have eaten anything.

Emily had always been sensitive, especially since she became sick, and she knew how to read mood fluctuations.

Seeing that Taylor behaved oddly after Jacob returned, she could not help but ask, "Are you not feeling well, Taylor?"

Taylor shook her head and forced a slight smile, saying, "I didn't sleep well last night, and I got up early this morning. So I'm a little tired."

"Would you like to go lie down in the guest room?" Emily asked with concern. Taylor involuntarily glanced at Jacob. She did not refuse and nodded immediately. "Okay, I'll do that. Besides, I have to wait for Dr. Guo."

"I'll show you upstairs."

Emily led Taylor to the guest room. As soon as they entered the room, Emily closed the door, and then stripped off the used quilt from the

e tiled floor in the room.

However, he previously hadn't noticed her at all.

The maid looked up and saw Jacob. She instantly lowered her head and rushed to explain, "The butler asked me to clean the floor, sir. He said there were some stains that needed to be cleaned up!"

The maid was none other than the maid that Jacob had suspected before, Lilian.

Under Jacob's icy and unblinking stare, she trembled and felt embarrassed. "Mr. Gu, if you don't want me to be in here, I can leave immediately!"

Lilian mumbled submissively.

Jacob did not answer, but continued to look at his cellphone.

After drinking the cup of hot tea, Jacob felt his eyelids growing heavy. He looked around, only to find that the world around him had darkened and was filling with shadows. Jacob became vigilant and looked suspiciously at the empty tea cup. He would never have expected that someone would dare drug him in his own home!

He lurched to his feet and tried his best to remain in control. He shouted at Lilian in a slurred voice, "You, get out!"

Lilian scrambled back in shock. She dropped the rag in her hand and stood up. She asked in an aggrieved tone, "Mr. Gu, did I do something wrong?"

"Get out!"

Jacob felt dizziness wash over him in waves while the world began spinning. He shook his head desperately to try and clear his mind. Before Lilian walked out, he stumbled along, trying to go upstairs, but he managed only two steps before the dizziness drove him down.

Jacob fell to the ground and the back of his head connected with the edge of the coffee table with a loud bang!

The burst of pain brought Jacob back to his senses for a moment, but then he felt all of his strength drain, and he could only lean back on the sofa and gasp for air.
