Emily remained silent for a moment.

Taylor became a little worried. If the police came, surely there would be big news about the poisoning incident with Jacob. Then Darren would know.

So, Taylor tried to hang onto Emily's clothes, hoping to deter her. However, unexpectedly, Emily smiled happily and said, "If Jacob has been poisoned and I don't call the police, that would also be strange.

Today, I slapped Lilian, making her think that I am enraged with her scheme. Then, Jacob was rushed to the hospital because of poisoning. If I continue to hide it from the world, a smart person like Darren will certainly find it odd and take note."

Emily's reasoning seemed quite sound to Taylor.

She nodded and asked, "What should we do then?"

"When the police show up, you can frisk Lilian carefully and interrogate her. If she is the real deal and tried to murder Jacob, then just take her away. If I can deal with Darren's spy this time, handling others who try to enter the manor would not be a problem,"

Emily reasoned.

Taylor thought it was risky, but she had no other choice. She was powerless to stop Emily from doing whatever she wanted. However, the police soon arrived and took Lilian away, but a search of her dorm room didn't turn up any poison.

Lilian felt deeply aggrieved and kept insisting that she was innocent.

After the police spent some time questioning Lilian, they also concluded that Lilian was indeed innocent.

Emily doubted this conclusion. She could only sit beside Jacob's bed and quietly ponder this question.

As soon as Jacob woke up, Emily told him what had happened. She had thought that Jacob would chide her for being ignorant or delaying his plans. Instead, he laughed softly, pulled Emily's hair and said, "You did a good job. Lilian can't be allowed at the manor anymore."

Emily felt relieved, but Jacob continued, "But you were a little reckless though, and Lilian got away without the punishment she so richly deserves."

"There should be a punishment?" Emily was confused.

"Yes, where is she now?" Jacob retorted with a firm tone.

Emily thought for a while. "The police has temporarily detained Lilian at the station in case there are any more questions in the immediate future. B

feed Mrs. Gu. If she doesn't feel hungry after two days, it means that she is suffering from a psychological disease, which needs to be treated with medicines." 'I thought her condition had improved. Why did this happen again?' Tim wondered.

When could he finally be rid of the pressure that Jacob was putting on him to save Emily?

"Okay, I'll give it a try!" Jacob felt ashamed to force treatment on Emily, but he didn't want her to suffer from incurable depression.

"Mr. Gu, I think I need to return to my hometown for a week. My assistant and Dr. Tang will hold down the fort for a few days," Tim added.

"I will give you three days!"

Jacob said. Seeing the embarrassed expression on Tim's face, Jacob continued, "After four days, I'll no longer need your assistant. You just need to hand over the work to Taylor."

"Okay!"

With that, Tim stood up and left.

Jacob didn't go to Emily's room, but headed to the place where Lilian was cleaning the flowerbeds. Seeing Jacob approaching, Lilian's face immediately turned red. Before he said anything, she quickly said, "Thank you, Mr. Jacob!"

"Thank you?" His eyes were devoid of emotion, and his eyes were fixed and staring.

But Lilian raised her head courageously to look straight at Jacob and said happily, "Thank you, Mr. Gu, for giving me a chance to keep my job here."

"Really, is that so? Then you may have misunderstood my orders. I asked you to stay only because the issue has not been solved yet!" Jacob sneered.
