Still, the missiles were not Diaroze’s only imminent threat. From behind her, the [La Grum] rushed at her like a bullet. Its charge was accompanied by several shots from its mega blaster rifle.
Diaroze somehow avoids them with an evasive maneuver without turning around.
The monitor showed a crimson beam flying past her. It was scary enough to be shot at from the front but being fired at from behind is just as terrifying. Despite the shiver running down her spine, Diaroze didn’t flinch.
“There!”
Still facing the other way, Diaroze sticks the rifle behind her and starts firing. Naturally, the muzzle was nowhere near the [La Grum]. After all, the only one who’s capable of shooting without looking is Kisei.
“Fool!”
The Empress sneered at that seemingly futile resistance but suddenly an explosion occurred from the direction of nearby debris. The beam Diaroze fired had hit the spare ammunition she tucked away earlier causing a big explosion. The explosive power of 4 anti-ship missiles was no joke. The metallic debris burst from the blast and the shrapnel attacked the [La Grum] at bullet-like speed.
Yes, Diaroze had lured the Empress to this exact position.
“Muh!”
[La Grum] was hit by a swarm of shrapnels from the side and got blown away. With each metallic shrapnel hitting its armor, a violent spark is sent flying. It was not enough to deal a fatal blow to it but the attack did manage to stop its movement for a moment.
“IT’S OVER!”
With the left hand firmly holding the rifle, Diaroze charged full speed at [La Grum] with the bayonet glinting in the faint light of Galea.
“WHAT!?”
The [Ex-Caliburn] performed a bayonet charge at the [La Grum]. The Empress couldn’t evade it as she just got blown away by the explosion.
The sharp tip of the bayonet was shoved at the [La Grum]’s abdomen. The violent impact shook both strikers and Kisei and Diaroze almost got blown off their seats. However, the bayonet itself couldn’t withstand the charge and shattered into pieces without penetrating the [La Grum]’s armor.
The [Ex-Caliburn] slammed into the [La Grum] and the two strikers violently wrestled.
“Uwawawa!?”
“Damn you…….that scared me!!”
The Empress angrily shouted. [La Grum] is the bigger striker so the impact from the collision was less for her. She grabbed the [Ex-Caliburn] by the shoulders and yanked it away.
“WAAHHH!”
The physical difference between the two was like an adult and a child. The [Ex-Caliburn] was thrown away like an oversized toy and the impact also made it drop its rifle.
“This is the end……!”
The Empress points her mega blaster rifle at [Ex-Caliburn]. Diaroze hurriedly tried to accelerate away but it was too late. The Empress’s finger was already on the trigger.

Diaroze grasped but…….even though she didn’t do anything, the [Ex-Caliburn]’s left hand suddenly unsheathed a photon saber from its chest mount. The beam blade sharply repels the high-powered beam.

That unexpected movement froze the Empress for a moment. Since the beam was flying straight back at her, she had no time to avoid it. The bullet of light landed on [La Grum]’s shoulder and blew away its armor plate.
“Gwahhhh.”
The Empress groaned while trying to prevent her striker from spinning out of control. There, the [Ex-Caliburn] fired up its thrusters and rushed in for an attack.
“THIS IS THE END!!”
The one who shouted that this time was Kisei. The impact from the earlier bayonet charge shook him awake. He landed a powerful roundhouse kick on the head of [La Grum]. Although the Empress’s personal striker boasted its insane robustness, its neck was still relatively fragile. With a full-powered kick from a Zenith, the head was sent flying clean off.
“GAHHHH!!”
The Empress roared in anger but it was too late. The saber’s blade pierced into [La Grum]’s belly where it got stabbed by the bayonet earlier. The half-penetrated armor couldn’t withstand the second attack and the beam blade managed to pierce its engine.
As though its earlier rampage was a lie, [La Grum] lost all of its power. However…….
“Not yet! This is can not be the end for me!”
The Empress shouted and pulled the lever under her seat with all her might. The back armor of [La Grum] was blown off by explosive bolts and something was ejected from within. It’s an escape pod.
“What!?”
Diaroze let out a bewildered voice. Because most strikers were designed to be compact in size, they usually do not come with such emergency escape devices. However, [La Grum] is no standard striker. There was enough room on it to house such a mechanism.
The escape pod activated the engine on its back and accelerated away with ferocious momentum. It appears that she’s trying to get away from this place.
“She doesn’t know when to quit huh……!”
Kisei roared and immediately gave chase.
