Chapter 4.20 – The Plot Is A Little Forceful(2)

“Ah? S-Settle what?” Xiang Han had a guilty conscience.

Seizing him by the neck, Shen Ze pulled him closer and asked expressionlessly, “During our third year, I fell down from a bike, fell while walking, sliced my hand while cutting vegetables… were you deliberately doing it?”

“How could it be?! I still hadn’t figured out the rules at that time… uh.” Xiang Han blanked, hating himself so much, he wanted to slap his own mouth.

“So, there are even rules?” Shen Ze raised a brow provocatively. After a brief moment of silence, he finally spoke, “Then, say something like, we’ll definitely be together.”

Xiang Han choked.

Shen Ze pressed him against the sofa and gripped his chin to ‘coerce’ him, “Hurry up.”

“Only the bad things will come true, and you must say it indirectly,” Xiang Han was helpless, pushing him away as he explained.

“In that case, forget it.” Shen Ze gave up quickly. Tilting his head down to look at the person beneath him for a moment, he couldn’t help leaning closer, wanting to suck those lips.

“Wait, we’re home. What if our parents come back…” Xiang Han immediately grew frantic and reminded him.

“Oh, so it’s fine as long as they don’t return?” Shen Ze deliberately found the hidden meaning in his words and continued to lean closer.

Suddenly, they heard the  sound of a door opening. Xiang Han became flustered and kicked him away, causing Shen Ze to roll on the floor. Shen Ze supported his waist and glared at him.

Xiang Han was immediately struck by guilt, reaching out to help him out.

It was at this time that Shen Zheng Duo and Zhu Jing Yi came in. Seeing this scene, Shen Zheng Duo couldn’t help but ask, “Why’re you lying on the floor?”

Shen Ze grasped Xiang Han’s hand and stood up, brushing the dirt off his pants. His voice was extremely moody, “Feels colder.”

“Tsk, still, you shouldn’t be lying on the floor. It’s almost the national exams, what if you fall sick?” Zhu Jing Yi nagged while changing into a pair of slippers before she walked over and looked at Xiang Han, “Why didn’t you tell him either?”

Watching Shen Ze go up the stairs, he finally muttered, “Tell him? I couldn’t even stop him.”

Saying so, he grew depressed. Shen Ze had said he’d give him some time to think it through, but judging from today, it was clearly just to give him time to adapt!

He didn’t have much time to brood over this subject. The national exams arrived in the blink of an eye.

No one knew if it was the plot armour or Xiang Han’s crows beak that came into play but on the first day of the exams, Shen Ze was struck by a car while crossing the road. Not so coincidentally, it was Chang Yu Chi’s car.

Chang Yu Chi hurriedly got down and felt his scalp grow numb when he saw the pool of blood on the ground. He stuttered, “A-Are you alright? I’ll take you to the hospital…”

“No need,” Shen Ze interrupted him coldly and forced himself to get up, heading in the direction of his school with a limp.

If he went to the hospital now, he would definitely miss the first paper. If his results weren’t good enough, Shen Zheng Duo would definitely make him repeat a year and he himself wouldn’t be satisfied either. Xiang Han’s results were always good. So, if he missed this chance, he would never be able to go to the same university.

Shen Ze didn’t want to wait another year and even more so, he didn’t want to go to a random university and waste four years there before relying on Shen Zheng Duo for the rest of his life.

His examination venue was different from Xiang Han’s and Shen Zheng Duo had something on in the afternoon, leaving right after dropping him off. Thankfully, there wasn’t anyone to stop him now.

Shen Ze celebrated silently and shoved aside a Chang Yu Chi who kept following him about, nagging non-stop and constantly attempting to support him.

When the examiner saw his pants dyed with blood as well as the injuries on his body, he immediately broke out into a cold sweat. He called for an ambulance and several paramedics rushed over.

An experienced doctor checked his leg and after a moment, frowned, “His bones are broken, send him to the hospital.”

Shen Ze rubbed his chin and gritted his teeth, “Give me two hours.”

The doctor took a look at the pencil case in his hands and immediately understood. “I’ll help you stop the blood and stabilise your condition first. You… go and explain to the examiner later on.”

Chang Yu Chi who had been standing by the side grew frantic, “Doctor, he was hit by a car. You must do a thorough examination.”

Shen Ze abruptly turned towards him, eyes red and filled with deep hatred.

Meeting such a terrifying glare, Chang Yu Chi jumped backwards in shock.

Noticing the tense situation, the examiner quickly persuaded Chang Yu Chi to leave, “Student, we need to enter the exam hall now, you should leave. You can just leave your contact information, and if there’s anything, we’ll call you.”

When the doctor heard his injury was due to a car accident, his expression grew grave.

However, Shen Ze insisted on sitting for the examination and even stood up by himself. The doctor had no choice but to give him a simple examination before agreeing reluctantly.

When Shen Ze left, he still couldn’t help but worry, “If you feel dizzy or nauseous during your paper, you mustn’t force yourself…”

Enduring the bone-wrecking pain, Shen Ze sat through the paper. His hair was already drenched in cold sweat and his consciousness was fading. In the end, he handed in his paper ahead of time and was taken away in an ambulance.

Shen Zheng Duo took his time to come and pick up his son. Seeing a student being carried off by the ambulance, he muttered, “Children these days… their mental fortitude is quite bad.”

Then, he waited for a long time but didn’t see Shen Ze.

Just as he was growing doubtful, he received a call from the hospital informing him that Shen Ze had been in an accident.

Shen Zheng Duo was so frightened that the phone nearly slipped out of his hands. While he was rushing down, Xiang Han also received the news and hurried over with Zhu Jing Yi.

After learning that the one who hit Shen Ze was Chang Yu Chi, Xiang Han’s expression became complicated. With his crow’s beak, could this be considered his and Chang Yu Chi’s fault?

At this time, Xiang Han was still unaware that Shen Ze had taken the test while enduring the pain and only thought: The plot armour of this world was truly sturdy. Although the storyline had changed so much, the ending was still the same.

For example, Xue Ling. For example, the national examinations…

Shen Ze had broken a leg, fractured a rib, suffered a concussion and received multiple abrasions. When Xiang Han finally learnt that Shen Ze had insisted on taking the paper under such conditions, he was utterly shocked.

It didn’t take long for Shen Ze to wake up. Xiang Han waited for Shen Zheng Duo to finish making a big fuss before he went forward and asked, “You’re already badly injured to this extent, why did you still take the exam?”

“Exactly! I don’t care about such things. Even if you only have a high school education, dad can still afford to raise you. Moreover, your grades aren’t bad, repeating a grade isn’t a big deal.” Shen Zheng Duo’s eyes couldn’t help turning red.

Shen Ze laughed at him before looking at Xiang Han and said, “Come here.”

Xiang Han instinctively leaned forward and offered an ear. Very quickly, he felt a breath of hot air beside his ear and he heard Shen Ze speak in a low voice, soft enough that only he could hear. He said,  “I want to go to a school in the same city as you. The best would be the same university.”

Xiang Han was evidently stunned by his words and his ears gradually grew hot. He unconsciously glanced at Shen Zheng Duo before standing up and replying softly, “You will.”

Since he still had another paper in the afternoon, Xiang Han left soon after. Shen Ze also requested to take the paper. Shen Zheng Duo was unable to win against him, and reluctantly agreed to his request with a heavy heart.

After the second day of exams, Shen Ze had clearly lost weight and was finally forced by Shen Zheng Duo to obediently recuperate in the hospital.

Perhaps it was due to heart ache or guilt, Shen Zheng Duo would stay in the hospital to accompany him whenever he was free. In the beginning, Shen Ze could still bear it but after a while, he grew annoyed.

Shen Zheng Duo had been a company’s CEO for too long and it didn’t take long before he started spewing words of advice and chicken soup for the soul. Now, whenever he saw him, Shen Ze would ask him in annoyance, “Is your company going out of business? Wasting your time here every single day, hurry up and go back. Just ask Shen Han to come and accompany me.”

“Why are you still calling him Shen Han? He’s already addressed you as ‘older brother’. Will it hurt you to call him ‘younger brother’? You still have the face to call him over to accompany you, seriously?!”

Although Shen Zheng Duo expressed his utter dissatisfaction, he still called Xiang Han over.

Xiang Han arrived very quickly with a pot of pork bone broth in tow. Setting it down on the table, he caught his breath, “Here, drink some bone soup to heal your broken bones.”

Shen Ze received the bowl and sniffed it with doubt, “You made this?”

“How can it be?” Xiang Han sat by the side, cooling the soup with his hands as he said, “My mom ordered from a restaurant.”

“Thank her for me.” Shen Ze wasn’t surprised and drank the soup with ease.

“Uncle Shen called me earlier, his tone sounded pretty depressed. Why did you chase him away again?” Xiang Han asked.

“He’s always going on about life lessons, who can stand it?” Shen Ze frowned. After drinking another two mouthfuls of soup, he added, “Tell him not to come again, having you here is enough.”

Shen Ze drank his soup while thinking, with Xiang Han caring for him, being hit by the car wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. It just hurt a little.

Having delivered soup in this hot weather, not only did Xiang Han not receive even a word of thanks, he was even asked to come everyday. He couldn’t help saying, “Do you think I’m not busy? There’s so many class gatherings.”

Shen Ze instantly grew unhappy and set the spoon down. “What’s there to gather for? Your class is only full of girls.”

“Bullshit. Including me, there’s four…”

As the two of them bickered, Chang Yu Chi suddenly appeared with a fruit basket. Xiang Han saw Shen Ze’s face darken immediately and hurriedly stood up. He deliberately said, “Take your time to chat. I still have something to do, I’ll go out for a bit.”

The whole way out, Shen Ze glared at him until he left. Then, he lowered his head to continue drinking his soup, intentionally ignoring Chang Yu Chi.

Xiang Han circled around the perimeters a few times before slowly making his way back when he felt it was almost time.

Sure enough, Chang Yu Chi had already left and Shen Ze was currently meditating. Sensing his arrival, Shen Ze opened his eyes and continued to glare at him moodily.

Xiang Han felt inexplicably guilty and silently packed up the utensils. His gaze fell on the basket of fruits. Suddenly, Shen Ze spoke, his voice carrying a trace of disgust, “Throw it out.”

“Don’t. The fruits aren’t at fault.” Xiang Han pondered for a bit before taking the fruit basket downstairs to gift it to a patient whose family wasn’t as well-off.

The results of the national examinations soon came out. With the aid of his system, Xiang Han easily attained the first place in the whole city and experienced the feeling of being a top scholar. Because of his accident, Shen Ze wasn’t able to perform to the best of his abilities. However, he was still able to rank in the top three in Twenty-third High school.

After discussing their results in the hospital room, they both decided to apply to Peking University.

Shen Ze directly filled out his application on the hospital bed and let Xiang Han hand it up to the school. From the start to the end, he never told Shen Zheng Duo about it at all.

Xiang Han hesitated for a moment before he asked, “You’re really not going to discuss it with Uncle Shen?”

Especially since Shen Ze had applied for the medicine course. Shen Zheng Duo definitely wanted him to study business.

Shen Ze paused for a moment and said, “Forget it, he’ll definitely not agree.”

“Then, why did you want to choose medicine?”

“Because I can legally and honestly cut dead bodies up,” Shen Ze suddenly laughed, his gaze carrying a hint of anticipation.

Xiang Han was speechless.
