Chapter 105 – Grand Fashion Gala (3)

Walking the red carpet didn’t sound difficult. The celebrities would just dress glamorously and walk the red carpet, waving their hands and nodding, making several composed poses. Then they would go to the interview area, chat with the reporters, and finally sign their names in front of the board…

But going in-depth, there was a hidden meaning behind each step.

Some celebrities were like clouds, floating high; then there were those who held substantial power. So, in such a scenario how would one determine the order of the celebrities? Or, how long a celebrity stayed on the red carpet? Were they going alone or with someone else? How long would the interview be for? How long for the signing and pictures? Were they going to greet their ‘fake sisters’ on the red carpet if they encountered them? What if they fell?…

There were all sorts of questions.

Su Jishi was dizzy from the questions. Just then, she found out how complicated the inner story for walking a bright and glamorous red carpet actually was, a stark contrast from what she had seen on TV.

The order of the guests for the red carpet was preordained, so they mustn’t be late or delay their time on the red carpet. If they were late, the artist’s position would be determined again, and it was likely that they would be tossed to the pile of B or C-list celebrities. If they delayed their time on the red carpet, the security would rudely tell them to leave quickly.

Fang Xie said, “You’re number fifteen because you’re the Annual Fashion Artist of this year. So, before you walk the red carpet, the host will clear it for you.”

It was another phrase that she’d never heard of before.

Su Jishi asked, “What does it mean by clearing the carpet?”

Fang Xie explained. “The red carpet is very long, so sometimes before the previous artist finishes walking the red carpet, the next artist would be walking the red carpet. Therefore, there would be two to three artists simultaneously walking the red carpet. When all the artists gather at the photography and interview sections, it would influence the results of the photoshoots. In order to express the importance of certain guests, the host would have the security clear everyone walking the red carpet and leave the entire red carpet for the influential celebrities.”

During the film festivals, before the Film Emperor and Film Empress walked the red carpet, the carpet would be cleared. Those artists who had only taken part in a few dramas would often walk the red carpet together.

V Fashion’s Grand Fashion Gala’s host suggested clearing the carpet for Su Jin to express her importance. But at the same time, it was a very difficult challenge for her.

Thinking about it, she would be clad in a glamorous outfit and walking on the bright and magnificent red carpet. There would hundreds of media companies setting their carters on her and capturing her every expression and smile. She needed to smile and chat casually in front of live broadcast and media. She needed to leave her name on the signing board… Each step needed to be calculated meticulously. She needed to walk light and elegant steps.

Clearly, it was very difficult for Su Jishi to do this right now.

Su Jishi had her own personality while walking the red carpet, she walked quickly and valiantly. The other celebrities were having a “beauty competition” while she had a “martial arts competition”.

Fang Xie had specially invited an etiquette teacher to train Su Jishi.

In order to avoid competition, the etiquette teacher was a Russian person. They had taught ballet when they were young. Even now, they had a slender figure and walked like a swan.

The ‘swan-like’ teacher took out a thick book and placed it on Su Jishi’s head. When she walked, she needed to keep her shoulders still; when she turned her head around, she needed to turn slowly. In her every move, she had to exude elegance and grace.

They all said that famous teachers would produce brilliant students. Su Jishi trained with this ‘swan-like’ teacher for a while and by this time, she looked quite good.

Su Jishi imagined herself walking the red carpet, lifted her non-existent dress, gently twirling around. She slightly curled her lips and smiled charmingly.

“Fang Xie, am I like a swan right now?”

Fang Xie said the truth. “…You don’t look like a swan.”

“Then what do I look like?”

“A goose.”

“…”

“Being a goose is quite nice as well. At least they have a powerful fighting strength.”

Strange. How come Su Jishi was able to walk with a completely different temperament when it was the same steps and posture?

It was Saturday in the blink of an eye.

The Grand Fashion Gala was to begin at 7 p.m. Yet, Su Jishi left her apartment in the afternoon and headed to the company to get dressed up.

Her evening gown was worn by a fitting model first and then they arranged the measurements of the gown according to Su Jishi. They tightened the places that needed to be tightened and loosened up the places that needed to be loosened.

Su Jishi was slender and tall, but she wasn’t like the trendy ‘paper man’ in the entertainment circle. The most beautiful part of her body was her back. Her shoulder blades were like the wings of a butterfly slowly flapping its wings. She had muscles where needed making her appear taller, adding to her appeal.

A-Shan had especially picked out an evening gown that revealed Su Jishi’s back. It was a long, lake-blue dress and the light muslin poured down from her shoulders stopping at her waist. The authentic silk evening gown softly hugged her, the bottom shaped like the tails of a mermaid. The specks of silvery light sprinkled on the bottom of the dress, she looked breathtakingly stunning.

Su Jishi loved the dress the moment she saw it and reluctantly forgave Fang Xie for not letting her eat to her heart’s content in the afternoon.

Her shoulder-length short hair was braided into a crown and tightly coiled behind her head. Silver olive leaves were woven into her air, it harmonized with her pearl earrings. When Su Jishi’s hair was done, Xiao Xia walked over carrying the dress. She helped her into the dress and then gradually pulled the zipper to the highest point possible.

In the mirror, the girl elegantly turned around and revealed her tanned, bare, back before everyone, only to attract stunned gazes.
