Chapter 116 – Sister Su (2)

After Su Jinqing arranged her uniform, she walked towards the dock.

Kakadu’s staff uniform was dirt yellow because it could withstand dirt. There was no design to the uniform and it was like the labor uniform in the 1980s. If someone else wore this uniform, it would seem as if they wore an ugly sack over them. When the wind blew, the sack puffed up.

Yet, no matter how ugly the clothes were, Su Jinqing made it appear extraordinary and eye-catching. She was skinny and a natural clothes hanger. She tied the big shirt on her slender waist and then wore her hair into a bun appearing refreshing and pleasing to the eyes.

She quickly walked towards the ship and gazed over the tourists gathering on the deck in groups with her jet-black eyes. The explanation she memorized flickered in her mind.

Yet, when her gaze landed on the end of the ship, she suddenly stopped.

Her pupils dilated and her expression stiffened. She stood on the deck, frozen as though a little animal had encountered its nemesis.

The people that led her to reveal this expression weren’t extraordinary nor did they have three heads or six arms. Instead, they were just an ordinary family.

A family of five was at the end of the ship. The elders were kind and the couple lovey-dovey. The child was well-behaved and obedient. Yet, the words they spat out of their mouth was enough to collapse the defense wall she had built around her heart for the past three months.

She had originally thought that by leaving her homeland and quitting the entertainment circle, she could enjoy her solitude after hiding in this utopia that rarely anyone frequented. Yet, the sudden appearance of this Chinese family interrupted her plans.

Will they recognize her?

Will they upload her picture on the Internet?

If the company that was managing her knew that she was here, how angry would they be?

Could the fans that she left forgive her sudden disappearance?…

Su Jinqing clenched her hands, forcing herself to not be engulfed by the distracting thoughts that suddenly surged her mind.

“Su Jin, don’t let your thoughts run wild.” Suddenly, a hoarse male voice rang behind her. “I already made inquiries for you. They are the third generation that immigrated, and rarely contact their relatives and friends from the past. There is no way they will recognize you.”

The man’s words were the best pill to comfort her. Su Jinqing’s body slowly relaxed. From the man’s angle, he could see the back of her neck and how the bone was protruding.

Su Jinqing turned around to look at him.

The man was unusually sturdy and strong for Asians. He was nearly 6’2’’. He was muscular and had a thin layer of beard underneath his chin. His hair was extremely short and it revealed his scalp. Because he frequently patrolled around the wetland, his skin was extremely dark from bathing under the sunlight. His eyelids made him seem like he was always half asleep. Yet, Su Jinqing couldn’t ignore the coldness hidden under his eyes.

“I told you many times before. I’m not Su Jin.” The delicate and tiny Su Jin needed to stand right in front of him in order to see his face clearly. “I’m Su Jinqing and I will only be Su Jinqing.”

Right. When the two first met, this mysterious man named “Lin” had recognized Su Jinqing.

Su Jinqing had volunteered to work for the Kakadu National Park, but she didn’t expect for another volunteer to come from China just like her.

Lin’s English wasn’t that good, a bit worse than Ana Ivanović. Yet, no one in the Kakadu dared to disrespect him.

After all, he had got rid of an entire poaching company by himself. What’s more, he saved an entire boat of crocodiles from them!

The man would bring his gun wherever he went. However, he was carrying a slender and long bamboo in his hands. One side of the bamboo was sharp and it looked very much like ancient China’s “pike”.

However, this pike wasn’t used as a weapon, but rather a tool to feed crocodiles. When the ship drove to the river, this pike would carry bloody fresh meat to be placed into the water to attract the crocodiles, making them jump out of the water. Stealing fresh meat- this was the most dangerous and exciting activity in the journey. Benny let the weak-looking and quiet Su Jinqing be in charge of the “crocodile jump”, but she was worried. Therefore, she also had Lin be in charge of this, so the two could work together.

Therefore, the tourists would see two young Asian faces on the Henan River’s cruise ride. One was smiling and in charge of explaining to everyone while the other was cold and in charge of the dangerous and exciting crocodile jump. There were even some tourists who secretly asked if they were a couple before leaving the ship.

What a pity that the two weren’t as close as the tourists thought.

Instead… they appeared to be mortal enemies.

“Su Jin, there’s no use in denying it.” Lin mocked. “You were deathly scared to the point you can’t even walk just seeing a few people who might recognize you. What? Do you plan on having me carry you over?”

Su Jinqing was speechless.

Lin didn’t have a good attitude. To be accurate, he had a very bad attitude. Yet, Lin attacked Su Jin every day.

“I don’t know why you decided to come to Kakadu nor do I want to know why. But you’ve taken a break for a long time. It’s time for you to go back now.”

“Why would I go back?” Su Jinqing retorted. “I only entered the entertainment circle because I had no choice. I left the circle because I want to find a career that is more suited for me.”

After her mother passed away, the last reason for her to stay in the entertainment circle had vanished too. She wanted to be Su Jinqing, the Su Jinqing that she had buried in her heart for three years. She was meticulous, but also firm. She was weak, but also stubborn. She was never the beautiful doll that the managing company dressed her up to be.

“Su Jin” had disappeared. When she left, she didn’t take any money that didn’t belong to her.

She arrived at Kakadu. In one aspect, she needed to avoid crowds. But most importantly, she enjoyed being a volunteer on this wetland. Although it was tiring and exhausting, she was willing.

However, on certain quiet nights, she would feel a sense of guilt from the bottom of her heart towards the fans who helped and loved her.

If she could… she really wanted to know whether they were doing well after she left.

Unconsciously, Su Jinqing had said this out loud.

There was a faint and uneasily detected light that flickered in Lin’s eyes. “So you would think about your fans as well? My… at least you are worthy of their love.”

The man clutched the armrest tightly and said, “If you want to go online, go find Edwin.”
