Ch155 - We Released the Devil King

“I don’t have a name because they didn’t give me a name.”

The little boy’s voice was very soft, like sleeptalking.

How much energy could a six-year-old have? In fact, he was very sleepy after fleeing for most of the night. Almost as soon as he finished speaking, he fell headfirst on the camel and fell asleep the next second.

The little Devil didn’t realize that these people who said they were sent by Godmother Sophia wouldn’t take him to the “infinite loop” they spoke of. After he fell asleep, the contenders carefully walked back to the main road in the desert, met the paladin with the silver cross spear on his back, and rushed all the way back to the Holy City.

The memory began to change again.

This time, the scene that appeared in front of Zong Jiu was Mount Moriah.

Mount Moriah was the holy mountain of the Holy Church.

This S+ rank instance was exactly the same as the real world except for having a huge religious faith entrenched all over the world.

In the Bible, in order to test Abraham’s piety, Jehovah ordered him to sacrifice his son Isaac. Without saying a word, Abraham took his son and a knife and went up Mount Moriah. Ultimately, at the moment before his execution, an angel descended from the sky and prevented him from completing the sacrifice.

In addition, Mount Moriah was also the place where King Solomon of ancient Israel built the first temple, which was full of religious significance.

In this world, Solomon’s Temple no longer existed, but Mount Moriah had built the highest church of the Holy Faith.

Today was the big day of the Holy Church’s centennial ceremony.

In the early morning, the first ray of sunlight fell from the gaps in the distant sky, passing through the clouds like a golden veil, slowly encasing Mount Moriah.

The church on the top of the mountain was majestic, and the huge and exquisite reliefs were built according to the slope of the mountain, depicting a transcendent scene of pilgrimage for all beings.

Farther away, a semicircle of stone pillars sat before the cliff, embracing around the central altar.

Thousands of white doves flapped their wings in the sky and landed in front of the tower prepared for them.

A golden flame was burning on the torch, swaying in the wind.

Believers who came to the Holy City for pilgrimage knelt outside the Holy City in a dense crowd. Looking down from the altar, they could only see hundreds of millions of crowded black spots on the vast land. The scriptures chanted piously in their mouths could be heard clearly from the top of the mountain.

The elders and priests wore formal and cumbersome sacrificial robes with holy and pure crystal and gold ornaments on their heads and arms. They looked solemn as they lined up in a row looking straight ahead.

A total of thirty children, including the little Devil whose legs and feet were bound, were all brought to the altar on Mount Moriah.

Not only them, even Sophia, who was in charge of teaching these candidate Holy Sons, was also tied to the cross and transported to the temple in a prison cart.

Seeing the familiar godmother, the little Devil immediately let out a cry like a trapped animal. Unfortunately, he was gagged by a holy scarf, so he could only whimper in vain, glaring at the contenders standing aside.

When he woke up, he found himself in the Holy City, with his hands and feet tied up, surrounded by heavy guards of paladins.

Seeing this scene, no matter how stupid the six-year-old little Devil was, he could guess that he had been cheated.

“Don’t be like this… We will definitely keep you safe and bring you back to the infinite loop.”

Hong Lie, who was an exception and was allowed to participate in the ceremony at close range because of his meritorious service in capturing the Holy Son, smiled wryly.

They were really desperate. They had no other way other than to hand over the savior to the Holy City.

The Holy City had already made it clear to them that if the Pope who performed the ceremony could not be found before the centennial festival of the Holy City, then the entire S+ rank instance would be destroyed.

This sentence was very convincing, because the previous five teams all left the instance after completing the ceremony.

Facing the angry eyes of the savior, Hong Lie could only repeat his pale promise over and over again.

The high priest stood in front of Sophia with a lit torch in his hand, and asked in a low voice, “The ceremony is about to begin, are you willing to tell me who is the Holy Son with the ability to purify?”

Sophia, whose hands were tied, stubbornly shook her head without saying a word.

Rao was a high priest with a very good temper, and now even he was a bit irritated by her refusals.

Everyone was kind, even if Sophia was imprisoned, she didn’t suffer too much.

“Very good.” The high priest said coldly, “Then let these thirty children go up one by one to try.”

After the order, a priest took one of the children to the altar.

They untied the rope around the child’s back and suddenly pushed them onto the altar. The child staggered forward like a rag doll.

In the next second, the blood-red lines engraved on the altar lit up, emitting an ominous light.

Unable to make a sound, the child who fell to the ground gradually dissolved in this color.

It literally meant dissolving, from the skin to the facial features, everything was melted by intense heat. And even the bones creaked, turning into a liquid mixture of indistinguishable substances.

“The gods are angry!”

All the priests who stayed on the top of the holy Mount Moriah shouted in panic, knelt down on the ground, and shouted prayers toward the sky.

The believers on earth also didn’t know what happened. Cries and wailing intertwined and set the whole planet on fire.

“God! Please forgive us!”

“Great God! Please forgive your people!”

Tens of thousands of lightning arcs tore through the sky, striking the highest point of the holy mountain mercilessly.

The contenders quickly unfolded the special props, but the rest of the clergy were not so lucky. The attendants who were standing still just now turned into charred coals with white smoke rising from their bodies.

The high priest suddenly vomited a mouthful of blood and staggered back two steps.

“Sophia, since you have read the annals of the Holy Faith, you should understand that the Holy Son was born as a container. They have no father and no mother, and they are not allowed to take off their blindfolds before the ceremony, because the meaning and mission of their existence lies at this moment!”

Sophia’s eyes were moved, then she shook her head desperately, “No… no one, no.”

“If you want to protect these children, then you should reveal who the child chosen by God is, otherwise you will not only kill people in the whole world, but also kill the remaining twenty-six innocent children.”

The high priest’s words were like a sharp knife, cutting deep into Sophia’s heart.

“As long as you tell who that person is, we will swear by **** that other children can follow you back, and the Holy City will not interfere.”

The high priest’s tone was sad and provocative, “Sophia, you are a child blessed by God, why are you standing against us?”

One or twenty-six, this seemed to be an easy choice.

Just like the famous trolley problem, when the number was large enough, even if the one was innocent, people would tend to save more people.

If you sacrificed one, you could save everyone…

The silence dragged for a long time, yet it seemed to be only for a moment.

Sophia turned away, “There is no purification ability, but… but there is a child, he can transfer.”

“Transfer?”

The dim pupils of the high priest lit up all of a sudden, “The essence of purification is transfer, transfer! Who is that vessel?”

Sophia spoke tremblingly, “It’s… number one.”

She didn’t dare to look at the child’s eyes, and even her voice was shaking hard with sobs.

The contenders who were standing by the side felt their hearts skip a beat.

Hong Lie was the first to say, “No, no! This child, he, he…”

The worst case finally came true.

The savior was really the pope appointed by the Perfect World.

“No, Hong-ge, if the ceremony is not completed, we will all be wiped out!”

Immediately, another old member stopped him and prevented him from rushing forward.

The main task of the contenders was [Help the Holy City to elect the pope and complete the Holy Festival], which means that if the Holy City couldn’t complete the ceremony of the festival, the contenders wouldn’t be able to complete the main task.

If they failed to complete the main task, they would be wiped out by the system. No matter who they were, they would all have to be buried with them.

Between the savior and life or death, it was immediately clear which was more important.

Hong Lie lowered his clenched fist helplessly.

The high priest was still chattering aside, “Why do you think that all the Holy Sons in the annals of the Holy Faith are like this? Because the vessel cannot have its own consciousness. The mind is a sharp blade, if they can read and think, they will not be willing to be a vessel. Your self-righteous mercy will actually harm them.”

After saying this, she turned around again, showing an encouraging smile.

Everyone looked at the boy whose hands were tied.

The little Devil couldn’t speak, and could only look at Sophia with disbelieving eyes.

But Sophia didn’t dare to look at him, tears streaming down and landing on her skirt.

Was this really my mission? Was it the meaning of my existence? Why didn’t the godmother speak?

No one answered the doubts of a six-year-old child.

Only the high priest whispered like a dream, “Child, go, go up.”

This was the mission he was born with. As a vessel, the gods gave him the mission of the Holy Religion.

Everyone looked at him with hopeful eyes, watching him being led to the altar by the attendants.

No one rescued him.

Even if the white-haired young man floating in the air was a magician who worked miracles, he was powerless to intervene in the memory.

Then, the attendant gave a slight push.

The small S-rank prop rolled off the boy and rolled into the grass beside him.

In an instant, the altar, which was still bursting with scarlet light just now, was full of golden light.

All the darkness in the sky is gathered in the center, hanging down from the sky like a funnel and stalactite.

The little Devil laid flat on the altar. He finally realized something, the light in his pupils gradually died down, and finally returned to dead nothingness.

The boy was shackled like an innocent lamb waiting alone for a bloody sacrifice.

The world froze for a second.

The next moment, a strong wind rose from the ground, setting off a hurricane.

Those dark and sinister evil thoughts accumulated for a whole hundred years poured down from the sky like a sharp knife, piercing the boy’s heart mercilessly.

The child opened his mouth soundlessly, his small, delicate face was full of pain, screaming from the inside out.

The huge malice infected him, starting from the heart, gradually spreading to the internal organs and limbs, dyeing the black-brown pupils black, and sticky black mud dripped out of the seven orifices.

He was like a container that can never be filled, devouring the malice that has accumulated for a century.

With the darkness pouring down, the black clouds fell drop by drop, and finally, the first ray of bright sunshine appeared in the east.

The priests and elders all exclaimed, “Perfect, so perfect! He is the most perfect vessel in the past five ceremonies of the Holy Faith!”

The mortals kneeling under the Holy Mountain saw the dark clouds in the sky part and saw the sun, they kowtowed excitedly and chanted songs praising God.

“God! Thank you for your gift!”

“Thank you for your kindness, thank you for your selflessness, and thank you for creating a Perfect World!”

Finally, the last drop of evil thought entered the boy’s mouth and nose.

The altar had been completely submerged in thick black mud, and the human figure wrapped in the center couldn’t be seen clearly.

But the earth was peaceful for thousands of miles, and even the sun seemed to be a little brighter, reflecting colorful rays of light.

The contenders trembled all over.

They finally understood that there was no such thing as a Perfect World, there were only discarded things in sacrificed vessels.

“Get ready to light the fire!”

After all the darkness had fallen from the clouds, the High Priest gave the order.

The altar sank with a bang, and smelly kerosene poured down all of a sudden, covering the entire altar.

Before the contenders had time to stop it, a raging fire suddenly burst into the sky.

Hong Lie’s eyes widened, “No! You can’t do this to him! Why did you light the fire!”

Around the fire, the clergy began to pray.

The high priest said gently, “The soul of those who took the sins of all living beings will return to the embrace of God. We are just following God’s will.”

Obviously, those dark malicious things were extremely afraid of flames.

Under the pressure of the flames, they backed up step by step, and could only squeeze back into the vessel’s body.

“But, but.”

Sophia shouted hysterically, “He still has another ability!”

In the raging fire, the child who had already lost his shape began to roll.

The flames left ugly burn marks on the child’s back, fingers, body, everywhere. Originally, these things couldn’t hurt him, but because of malice, they sizzled on the pitch-black skin, and finally healed quickly under the ability.

The sharp roar has long since died down. Because he didn’t have the strength to shout anymore.

He was not afraid of flames by birth, but now it had become a support for him to suffer pain in the flames.

The high priest also began to panic.

The tradition of the Holy Church was to send them to Heaven with fire after the vessel had absorbed the malice.

But now, if the child was not afraid of the fire, it meant that he couldn’t be buried in the fire along with the malice.

Apart from fire, the Holy Faith no longer knows how to deal with evil thoughts.

There had never been such a precedent before, and no one knew what would be born from the undying fire.

The high priest gritted his teeth, “Increase the flame, increase it!”

The red-golden flames almost surrounded the entire mountaintop, and the wind caused by the uneven temperature and heat rose up, covering up the sacrificial ceremony.

Such a tragic scene, all those who saw it showed compassionate and moved expressions.

Only now did these contenders understand why in the notes left behind, those who had previously cleared this S+ rank instance said that as long as they passed the hurdle in their hearts, this instance would become easier.

Because it really was simple, so simple that it only needed to send a child to the burning sacrificial altar, which would not only save the lives of everyone in this Perfect World but also allow the contenders to get rich rewards and return to the infinite loop safely.

Hong Lie slumped to the ground, holding his forehead in pain.

[S+ rank instance: Perfect World, the main task has been completed]

[Space transfer will be carried out in thirty seconds…]

They finally found a savior, and now they had thrown their hopes into Hell.

When he was feeling sad alone, a scream came from not far away.

“No… Hong Lie, no, we were wrong.”

The contender who prevented him from rushing forward slowly fell down, his eyes dark.

[Beep, beep, beep, an abnormality was detected, and the space transfer was forced to abort]

Behind him, the one on the altar was slowly lifted up by the black mud.

His limbs elongated, and he transformed from a child.

Gathering the malice of billions of people in the whole world, the darkness stored for a hundred years was enough to destroy his personality thousands of times.

The surging black mud rolled from behind the figure, and crazy laughter resounded across the mountain.

Thousands of shadows poured out from behind that person, and every step he took was like the darkness bowing down to their emperor.

No, it was wrong to call him a person.

The little boy of six was gone forever. What appeared now was just a brand new monster born from pure malice.

“Wrong, wrong… not the savior….”

Could the savior who absorbed the malice of the whole world still be the savior?

Only then did Hong Lie remember. In Teacher Gui Guzi’s prophecy, besides the savior, there was another existence.

It was just a six-year-old child, innocent and kind, no one considered the other possibility.

The contender vomited a mouthful of blood and died with regret.

“We… released… the Devil King…”

Behind him, the sky was once again covered by a rising black shadow.

The Holy Mountain collapsed, the world fell apart, and the memories were annihilated.

A hand full of scars picked up the S-class props that fell to the ground that no one cared about.

“Infinite loop…? Interesting.”

No one knew that the Devil who destroyed the world was originally born from the body of the savior.
