“You using every effort to apologize to the women of your past, right? Rumors are circulating in the castle that you have gone crazy. Did that northern villager poison you?”

After saying that, Teresa’s high, sharp, mocking cackle rang out.

She seemed to say, So what if your outside shell looks good? It is the only thing worth considering. Your core insides are frivolous, worthy of my mockery and disdain.

Akkard, who didn’t think it was worth his time to deal with Teresa anymore, turned his back on her. Teresa shouted even more furiously at the cold look behind her.

“Did that woman order you to? Did she say if made amids and cleaned up your past, she would accept you?”

No, I never did,

thought Damia as she desperately wanted to escape this place. However, there was a part of her that listened to Teresa’s words and reminded her of something she told Akkard when she broke up with him:

‘If we could change the past, I don’t know. But the reality is, that it is impossible.’

She recalled the rejected Akkard’s sorrowful air and wiped her face with her hand. Now was not the time to indulge in leisurely emotions.

“You were slapped across the face and kicked by some high heels for your audacity. Oh, I forgot, didn’t Count Murnin’s daughter pour hot tea over you? How boring.”

As Teresa’s bright voice echoed through the hallway, Damia had no choice but to be enlightened about Akkard’s hardships while apologizing, whether she liked it or not.

“It has nothing to do with you. Stop being noisy and get lost,”

Akkard cut off Teresa without looking back. Then she stopped her laughter and licked her lips with a morbid, pale countenance.

“… … No, it has everything to do with me.”

She was born as the esteemed daughter of a great aristocrat lacking nothing. She was more twisted than Akkard in some ways.

She couldn’t stand feeling inferior to another woman because of a man she couldn’t have.

‘Never.’

Teresa smiled bitterly, hiding her downcast eyes with an innocent facade. Akkard acted shamelessly from ignorance, but Teresa was the most ruined and twisted because of him.

“The first person you should have apologized to is me, Akkard Valerian.”

If he did, she might have let him off. Having said that, Teresa pulled out her sharp dagger from the sleeves of her lavish dress.

‘Oh My Goddess!’

Seeing this, Damia was terribly surprised. Just last week, Akkard’s thigh was stabbed with a knife.

No matter how much treatment he received, healing magic was not perfect. It took some time for sutured flesh and tendons to regain their original function.

But now, Akkard gets stabbed again! She was not going to let that happen.

As soon as she thought that, Damia unwittingly ran out from behind the corner and shouted:

“Stop now, Teresa!!”

“… … Damia?”

The moment he heard the unforgettable voice he could only hear in his dreams, Akkard turned around, looking utterly bewildered, and found Damia.

“What brings you here…… .”

His callous expression had instantly softened to that of a befuddled boy who didn’t know what to do. His trembling gaze could not leave Damia’s face and grew hazy.

Teresa, who was instantly removed entirely from his attention, snickered bitterly. Although Akkard may not have intended it, the completely distinct attitude he displayed in a matter of seconds only fueled her hatred.

It hurt. So, she also wanted him to be hurt. But she didn’t want to do anything serious.

It was just that while Akkard was ridiculously seeking to make amends, he had suffered all kinds of retaliation and humiliations, so she intended to leave him with a small scar.

It wasn’t so different. She also had a scar on her heart that would last a lifetime.

‘But I’ve changed my mind.’

Teresa gripped her blade harder. In just a few seconds, the madness, jealousy, and love-hate that had accumulated for decades consumed her heart.

Contrary to her original intention, the tip of her blade now pointed towards Damia. She was sure Akkard would experience much more pain if she hurt that red-haired girl.

“I want you to disappear from my sight, Damia Primula,”

Teresa whispered with venom, swung her knife, and rushed at her. It happened instantly while Akkard was wholly distracted by Damia, who suddenly appeared before him.

“Dami!!”

Akkard, noticing this a step late, stretched out his hand. But it was too late to stop Teresa from rushing in.

Damia closed her eyes tightly at the sharply flying blade. Then, the sudden fishy smell of iron seized her nose, and a clack of sharp friction sound was heard.

Shiiii-crackk!!

What’s this sound? What’s that fishy smell? Maybe Akkard got hurt and bled?

Damia, startled, opened her eyes. And found a large, beautiful cast iron pan standing firmly in front of her.

… … It really was. It was a black, glazed cooking pan for scrambled egg omelets. The fishy smell Damia had inhaled was wafting from the same cast iron pan.

“Really, it’s no different than before,”

the woman holding the pan handle remarked indifferently. Her silver eyes were unfocused and unseeing, but even so, she could precisely block Teresa’s blade.

She’s just like someone who could see clearly ahead.
