It was easy going through the empty dungeon passages. Apparently, on the side of the High Temple, there was no special surveillance except when extracting the corrupted Holy Power from Callistea.

After all, there was no way for a saint to escape on her own feet since she was filled with narcotics and sedatives. Akkard, moving in the direction Calix had guided, reached the last room in the passage.

“Is this the place?”

It was a closed door without even a window. When Akkard looked back and asked, Calix nodded his head with a pale complexion.

“I’m pretty sure she’s inside.”

There was no such thing as a key, so two of Akkard’s men stepped forward and slammed the door with their shoulders. The floor rumbled even as they used their shoulder blades, slammed them, and made a loud sound.

If they hit with their bare shoulders, their bones and muscles would probably be hurt, but like the elite soldiers they were, they didn’t hesitate. Thanks to this, the iron gate was bent, and a small gap was created, so Akkard used the grate he had broken earlier as leverage to rip the entire door open.

Shhhhaaa-

At the same time as the door was torn open, a thick smoke came from inside. He was suffocating, and the smell was stuffing his nose.

“It’s a drug. Hold your breath!”

Akkard covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve and waited for some smoke to dissipate. Then, the fog inside somewhat cleared up, and his vision returned.

Calix immediately cried out when he saw the small, slender woman with her arms and legs chained to her chair.

“Callistea… … !!”

Akkard, who finally found the real Saint, frowned. He had thought Calix was too skinny, but Callistea looked even worse.

She had been poisoned by her drugs over the years and brainwashed, reducing her to bones and skin. She didn’t even have the energy to come to her senses, and she didn’t even flinch from the commotion.

Had she been a normal person, she would have died immediately of drug addiction and debility. However, the fact that she was a saint and her long lifeline was rather poisonous to her.

‘I don’t know if she’ll survive the escape.’

As Akkard thought so, Callistea looked like she would crumble to dust with the poke of a finger. Calix saw this and ran to her with tears in his eyes.

“Oh my— Carly!!”

It was the moment his feet hit the carpet right before Callistea. From somewhere, a heavy metal noise was heard.

As if a trap was setting up.

“It’s dangerous!”

A large ax blade fell from the ceiling above the bound Callistea. Akkard saw this, hurriedly got her out of the way, and struck it away with his scabbard.

Nevertheless, the ax blade was so large and heavy, it could not wholly turn its trajectory.

Cut-!

Blood dripped from Callistea’s shoulder, which she had rubbed against on a gloomy day. If it weren’t for Akkard, Callistea would have had her head cut off completely.

This must have been the temple’s effort to accuse the Crown Prince of conspiring to assassinate her.

He thought Heinrich was asking for a deal so they wouldn’t notice their raid. But it looked like they were prepared.

“Watch out— it’s a trap!!”

Simultaneously with Akkard’s shout, footsteps from the underground passage came rushing in. The rumble grew louder; it must have been the armed paladins.

“God damn it! Release her shackles first!”

The swordsmen quickly smashed the shackles that bound Callistea and broke them. Akkard quickly held her limp body and exited the cell.

At the end of the straight corridor, the paladins were already coming. The only way out was the one pipe that came in when they came in.

“Hurry up!!”

Akkard rushed towards the pipe, but the narrow pipe could only fit one person at a time. And since he had to crawl with a low crawl, he couldn’t move quickly.

In this situation, taking out even the unconscious Saint was nearly impossible. Even while he was trying to think of a solution quickly, the paladins were only a short distance away.

‘At least thirty people.’

Akkard, who had glanced at the number of temple knights, knew instinctively, that this was an unwinnable fight.

Owen, an ordinary middle-aged man, and junior priest Calix, were non-combatants. Not to mention the completely passed out Callistea.

Therefore, only three people could fight, just him and two of his subordinates. Fighting with more than 30 Paladins in this state while trying to escape from the depths of the High Temple headquarters was absurd.

“Damn… … !!”

If caught with the Saint here, they would most likely kill her and then blame Akkard for the crime. And his superior, Heinrich, would be pointed out as the ultimate mastermind.

He couldn’t let that happen. Akkard had to make a choice now. A teleportation scroll was in his hand.

‘That scroll, it’s for two.’

Heinrich’s words echoed in his ears. Akkard, holding this in his hand, glanced at his party one last time.

The two faithful servants of Akkard had already drawn their swords, and their faces were prepared for death. And the rest of them were at a loss.

Akkard’s gaze, looking around them, finally reached Owen. Damia’s one and only remaining family, her only blood in the world.

In an instant, Akkard quickly made his decision. He shoved the Saint from his side straight to Owen.

“Uh, huh?”

Owen, who received the fainted Saint and embraced her, looked at Akkard with surprise. But there was no time to explain, so Akkard grabbed Owen’s hand and gave him the teleport scroll.

“Please take good care of Dami.”

In a small whisper, he pulled the end of the scroll and tore it with all his might.
