2. reverse trap

(T/N: Reverse Trap[1])

Although the two people on the stairs were from the Southeast Federation’s frontline armed forces and had just won a battle against an invasion by the Merfolk, the atmosphere surrounding them was not the slightest bit cheerful. The one sitting had his shirt collar wide open, but even that was unable to relieve the frustration in his heart. Lu Meng wore a defeated expression: “A-Ze, what should we do?”

Immediately after, he added, “I’ll go along with your ideas.”

Annoyed, Li Ze was unable to stop himself from giving him a kick. However, Lu Meng, ranked SSS in strength, was unconcerned and did not bother avoiding it, instead taking the opportunity to hug his leg, calling out, “But Li-gege, your child bride[2] is about to be swindled away.”

Li Ze: “… …” Apologies, but that made him feel slightly disgusted.

“Don’t speak nonsense,” Li Ze said.

Lu Meng did not let go, “Tell me your plan first.”

Li Ze: “… …”

After two minutes of silence, Li Ze said, rather seriously: “Release false information that the Merfolk have attacked again, then escape while we can.”

Lu Meng raised his head to look at him, feigning alarm, “I never knew General Li could be this devious and cunning.”

Li Ze arched his brows, but decided to accept it as a compliment, “then just go for your blind date.”

“No!” Lu Meng shook his head desperately, even clutching at his own hair. “It’s too terrifying. It’s basically hell. I’d rather battle the Merfolk for three days and three nights.”

“Reporting.” The soldier was unclear of their identities, but his urge to lecture them was very strong. He was very solemn as he spoke to Lu Meng: “Please keep your shirt properly buttoned and behave appropriately as required by the army.”

Lu Meng: “… …” And here he was, thinking that the Disciplinary Squad no longer cared about them.

Li Ze held his laughter in while shoving him with his leg, “Don’t you feel ashamed?”

Unwilling to suffer this loss, Lu Meng retaliated by sweeping his leg directly below Li Ze’s back.

“Reporting, fighting is strictly prohibited outside of training.”

Li Ze: “… …” Where did this clown come from?

Stroking his jaw, Lu Meng glanced over and gestured him over with a finger, “Little soldier, come here.”

The soldier blinked, his ears suddenly turning red…

…only to hear Lu Meng ask, as if anticipating good news, “Will we be sent for detention if we continue violating the rules?”

Looking into Lu Meng’s peach blossom eyes[3], the soldier’s face went red again, “first time is a warning, second is disciplinary action, third time is detention.”

Lu Meng’s eyes brightened, “A-Ze, let’s fight.”

Li Ze was speechless, “And pray tell, Major General Lu, who here will approve our detention orders?”

“We can approve each other’s detention order!” Lu Meng seemed as if he had discovered a whole new world.

“Little soldier, what’s the most serious violation?”

The soldier racked his brains, trying to recall, “a soldier sexually assaulting a civilian Omega.”

Li Ze: “… …”

Lu Meng: “… …”

Since the both of them had basically no sexual desires, that was highly unlikely, or they wouldn’t even need to be reduced to going on blind dates. Just the thought of it was enough to bring on a headache.

Just as Li Ze was starting to undo his cuffs and consider going along with Lu Meng’s suggestion, a white-bearded old man walked over. “Major Generals, the Marshal has personally approved your vacation leaves.”

It finally dawned upon the soldier that the two people in front of him were the leaders of their troop.

He had heard that there would usually be a commander and a vice-commander in one troop, but these two were exceptions. Li Ze took the rear command post, and Lu Meng commanded at the frontline. Depending on the situation, the both of them took turns being the primary commander. It was said that they grew up together, achieved every feat hand in hand, and would go together from the cradle to the grave. They rose up in the ranks as one and worked extremely well through tacit understanding.

But the two people the soldier was currently envying shared a glance and said in unison, “Doctor, we still need to serve detention.”

Carefully, the soldier informed them, “Reporting, Generals, since you are both on vacation leave…” Under their stares, he swallowed and persevered: “There is no longer a need to serve detention.”

“Little soldier, let’s have a chat.” Lu Meng cracked his knuckles. His peach blossom eyes may be particularly seductive, but the soldier felt as if the air around them was cold enough to cut him.

Li Ze rubbed at the headache blooming between his brows. It seemed like they weren’t able to avoid it after all. Before Lu Meng could continue to make a fool out of himself, Li Ze grabbed his shirt collar and turned to leave, “Private, return to your station.”

“Yes, General.”

Hearing the soldier’s relieved voice, Lu Meng let out a long sigh, “A-Ze, I think you’re more awe-inspiring than I am, and everything you do exceeds my abilities.”

Li Ze chuckled, “No use putting on a pitiful front to win my favour, deal with your own blind date yourself.”

It seems when one’s mental strength is weak, so is their IQ. And so, Lu Meng was once again bested by Li Ze.
