Marian and I both froze as we looked at the dragon that was slowly walking toward us with its mouth open. A small flame was starting to grow in its mouth. I was terrified as I looked at that growing fire. I knew that there was nowhere to run. I also couldn’t leave Faye to perish from that flame.

I guess this was it. A dragon was about to kill me! I almost wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it all. A creature that I never believed in and seen only in movies and video games was about to burn me alive! I took a quick glance at Marian. She was as scared as me. Her hand was on her sword but I could tell by the way she held it that it was useless.

The fire in the dragon’s mouth got even bigger and I knew then that it was going to release that blaze soon. My life flashed before my eyes and I even thought about my parents and my sister for a moment. I wished I had spent more time with all of them. There had been too many days spent in my room alone playing video games and I suddenly felt like I had missed out on so much time with my family.

As the heat grew in the room, I closed my eyes as I waited for the fire to consume me. Suddenly, there was a loud yell from outside. “Freizo!”

My eyes popped open and I stared in shock at the frozen dragon before me. There was a small frozen flame that was coming out of its mouth. I stood there for a moment on trembling legs. Marian was the first to move. She walked unsteadily to the door and stared up at the sky. I could see her eyes open wide and her mouth fell open. I walked slowly toward the door and looked up at the sky. A big smile came to my face as I saw Cyrena in the air. She was gold-colored and her wand was pointing at the dragon.

I was happy to see that she was still alive. She floated down to the ground and she turned back to her original self. She walked toward us with a happy smile on her face.

“Cyrena!” I ran to her and gave her a big hug. She laughed and hugged me back.

“I am happy to see you too, James. It took me a while to get up from the rubble that was the inn. My first thought was that they must have captured you,” Cyrena said.

“My gods! How did you do that?!” Marian came over and looked at Cyrena in awe.

“I did not know if that spell would work. A big part of it was due to James here,” Cyrena said with a smile.

I blushed a little and I had to admit that I was very glad that I had given her my semen. It truly saved our lives!

We all stared at the frozen dragon for a moment. It was kind of surreal to look at it. It looked like an ice sculpture.

“Is the Demon Queen’s knight dead?” Cyrena asked us.

Marian nodded. “Yes. She was here for the boy.”

“How did she know I was here?” I asked Cyrena. “And what does she want with me?”

“I don’t know how she would know you are. The only answer that comes to mind is that there were dark mages here who alerted her,” Cyrena said.

“Dark mages?! Here?!” Marian said in disbelief. “There’s no way that’s possible!”

“I don’t know any other explanation,” Cyrena said as she looked at the frozen dragon. “Something alerted her of your existence, James. To answer your second question, she wants you for your semen.”

“Of course,” I said with a sarcastic chuckle.

“This is no laughing matter, James. If the Demon Queen gets your semen, she will be more powerful than ever! It would be impossible to stop her reign of terror!” Cyrena said.

The smile left from my lips as I looked at Cyrena. She looked a little scared. I felt my heart begin to race in my chest.

“Why would she be even more powerful from his semen?” Marian asked Cyrena curiously. “Is there something special about him?”

“He is a virgin and is not of this world,” Cyrena said. “His semen is even more potent than any other male here.”

“Virgin?!” Marian looked at me in surprise. I looked away in embarrassment. “That is impossible! How are you still a virgin?!  Also, what do you mean not of this world?”

“It’s a long story. We need to get out here before the Demon Queen sends more of her knights here,” Cyrena said. “They got here very fast. I wonder if they were able to come through a portal. There is no way that they flew here from her lair.”

“Portal?” I asked Cyrena.

“Yes. Dark mages are able to create portals that allow them to travel to wherever they want quickly.”

Marian circled the dragon and then raised her sword and sliced at its frozen head. The head fell and shattered on the ground. The rest of the body toppled over and shattered as well.

“Oh my god, Faye!” I shouted. I had totally forgotten about her. I ran back into the house with the others behind me. I removed the rubble quickly from Faye and saw that she was unconscious. I picked her up and I was surprised by how light she was. It was like carrying a baby.

“Set her down here.” Cyrena pointed to a clear spot on the floor. I put her down and watched as Cyrena took her wand and pointed it at Faye’s head. “Awakeyria!”

Faye’s eyes snapped open and she looked around in fear. Her eyes looked at Marian and me. “Where’s the dragon rider?”

Marian pointed to the dead headless woman. “Right there. She won’t be causing any more trouble.”

Faye looked at her then she looked at Cyrena and smiled. “I thought you were dead!”

Cyrena smiled back at her. “Not yet, my dear. But, if we stay here any longer we may find ourselves in that predicament. We have to leave now.”

I helped Faye to her feet and we hurried out of the house. Faye glanced curiously at the ice shards that were on the ground.

“I need to see if anyone is alive! I can’t just leave!” Marian said.

Cyrena shook her head sadly. “There’s no one alive. I’m not picking up any thoughts or brain activity.”

Marian’s face fell. I felt sorry for her as she had literally lost all of her fellow townspeople in a matter of hours. “I can’t believe that they are all dead.”

“I’m sorry. This is all my fault,” I said as I looked at Marian.

Marian shook her head. “No, it's not. It’s that bitch. The Demon Queen. I’m going to make her pay for this.”
