Chapter 85

Wu ChengLi was considered as the top cultivation genius, but even in this continent and with my age, I was considered second. This made me famous quickly. Thankfully, my friend protected me well. There were as many Nascent Souls in this continent as Core formation cultivators in mine. While Nihility cultivators could be counted in one hand here, there was none in mine.

During the first month, I helped Wu ChengLi predict the opening of 2 secret realms and collected some books.

My cultivation base increased but not enough to reach the next stage. I was not concerned. It took me 5 years to go from early stage to middle one and I was expecting longer to reach the late stage of Nascent soul.

I had to drop my talisman training. I was too bad at drawing them and had no talent in the field1author: you should have known with your earlier drawings.... ChengLi made fun of me “Welcome to the mortal world. Everyone can feel relieved that you're not perfect”

“Who’s talking, Mr Nihility cultivator in his early twenties” I replied

I found the perfect time to ask him to use the stealth stone and I told him what happened 5 years earlier. He was shocked and said after a while “Only you could have figured out the truth. I would have thought the evil being bounded with ChengLiu”

“Well, I am a genius” I joked, then I said seriously “You are simply biased against Wu ChengLiu. If you experienced what I experienced and have been on my shoes, you would have deduced the same”

“Not sure. You’ve read enough books and have enough experience to understand part of the Heavenly Dao’s laws. I did not know that it made no exception”

That was easy for me, I considered it as a computer system. It had no emotions and worked toward one goal; follow the pre-established rules to keep balance between planes and worlds

“Actually it does. Exceptions are part of its rule too” I added. It allowed Ji FangFang to talk to me about some hidden secrets

“Stop talking about that before I get a headache,” warned ChengLi. He was smart but sometimes, I was too nerdy even for him

We chose to not delve too much on the subject. What was done was done and we were free from the demon immortal's influence. My experience just helped to get some answers and a level of closure.

...

We traveled to other cities during the trial of the 5 scums but ChengLi received constant reports. They killed native Golden Tree citizens in another country but it was enough to convict them. One of the victims was the daughter of a powerful sect master.

The other two were from medium level families and that was the reason they were used as cannon fodders. This came from Wu ChengLiu’s mouth after taking a truth pill. As for Miss Mao, as any outgoing and spoiled teenage girl in love, she was pestering him constantly. The bandit gave him a reason to retaliate. He thought no one would know while the other females were just jealous of her. The other men just went along.

As I said, they were all scums.

With sect master Mao's influence, they were sentenced to 50 years in prison. Normally, they would have been killed by him but he had to refrain due to the murder happening far away and 4 of the 5 prisoners being from powerful families. Even a sect master could not afford to start a war to get revenge from the 4 teenagers. They would have a harsh life for 50 years since they were only in the late foundation establishment. As for ChengLiu, he was expelled from the Wu family so he was not protected. He too was jailed but, from his point of view, he would be safe from retaliation during those 50 years. I would be surprised if he survived after being released though.

We came back a week before the wedding. Aunt Sun and Uncle Qing’s relatives who were coming from afar started showing up and I was enlisted to help entertain them. Aunt Sun told me it was my punishment for threatening uncle Qing. She knew me well, I regretted my meeting joke because of it. At least, I knew and liked uncle Sun LaoYi2ChengLi’s uncle who escorted mother-son back home years ago who helped me deflect some unpleasant people from his family

“I am so unlucky! I have to suffer because of our friendship” I jokingly complained to ChengLi after politely deflecting an unwanted advice from an elder for the 5th time that day.

Despite being the 2nd wedding of aunt Sun, it was planned grandly. Uncle Qing was the city lord of a neighboring city, they knew each other since childhood but uncle Qing disappeared for decades and was presumed dead. Aunt Sun took a long time to mend her broken heart and finally married the eldest son of the city lord Wu. It was only after her divorce that uncle Qing came back. He accepted her past and pursued her until she agreed to marry him. A true fairy tale story.

It made me think about what type of woman I would fall in love with. Because of my first life experience, I did not like the unmarried girls that I met so far. I was young so I could wait a few decades - or centuries - to find true love. In the meantime, it would be good to know my type. Right?

Mmmm, I knew what I did not like; Fake smiles, fake kindness, fake gentleness. It all reminded me of my fake dear aunt.

I didn’t like weak girls because my she-wolf cousin used her weakness against me often. No, I should not call her she-wolf anymore but the hurt and trauma was still here. My head started hurting. It was easier for me to deal with array and math problems. For now, I was not going to fall in love until I found the perfect woman! As for what was perfect for me... let the future me decide. End of discussion.

Luckily, the prime adult bachelor was ChengLi - He was 21 - so I only had to direct any girl, eager parents and aunties toward him.

“As a friend, I should help you with matchmaking. Right?” I said with an evil laugh. I was too busy laughing to see a water ball coming at me.

The wedding was beautiful. The decorations were festive, The bride was beautiful. The only problem was that everyone wanted to make boring speeches!

Luckily, uncle Qing had enough eventually and he released his menacing aura. It was not spiritual pressure though so we were fine but most guests were too scared to continue wasting everyone’s time.

By the way, I felt uncle Qing's energy being suppressed to stay in the early stage of Nihility. ChengLi confirmed that his new stepfather did not want to ascend too quickly for the sake of his new wife. I respected him even more after finding out.

I did not stay long after the wedding. A merchant from my continent recognized me at the wedding and started sharing proudly my achievements. I was not concerned too much as I had Wu ChengLi, the Sun family and uncle Qing’s backing but it was better to return home anyway.

I gave enough copies of my techniques to everyone to spread around before leaving. The Golden Tree continent was wealthier than mine so I did not expect my techniques to be popular here as almost everyone could afford pills to remove their extra roots.

This time, I enjoyed my trip back and visited some islands. When I finally arrived home, I had enough gifts for everyone to fill a warehouse. Xie-er was the most favored one. I even brought exotic clothing for him to cosplay with. Aunt Yan was happier with this gift than him though.

It took me more than one year for the round trip. This made me see how much grandma Li aged and I was concerned. After stealthily checking her health, I knew I could do nothing. She was healthy and simply getting older. She left us in her sleep 12 years later. It was the first time I cried since I was an adult. Li Yao already reached the foundation establishment and started as a full-fledged officer instead of simply being a recruit. Li Bo was the youngest teacher of AnNan school and grandma Li was able to witness it all before her passing.

We all moved on and lived happily. Some small scale drama made us enjoy life even more.

ChengLi visited us often since his mother started her own family. As a cultivator in the Nihility stage, he could cross the ocean in a day. He told me one day that he was planning to change his last name for Sun. Patriarch Wu crossed a line he should not have by pressuring him into marrying twin sisters from one of his acquaintances. He even tried to scheme against him by drugging him to force the marriage. Luckily, his body constitution and buddha necklace saved him. He already broke ties with him.

We had no luck with our families. At least I found a new one and he had a loving mother and stepfather.

Decades later I reached the early stage of Nihility while ChengLi was in mid stage. As good brothers, we traveled together and visited some secret realms. It was then that I met the love of my life

Fullname82 Hello everyone,

A lot happened in those 2 chapters and MC finally started questioning what type of wife he wants! It took him forever to grow up... well, better late than never. Right? This is not a romance novel so don't expect any of it

I initially did not want to write about grandma Li's passing but, from MC point of view, she was part of his family. As an important character, I could not write a multiple decade long time skip when we all knew she had between 10 to 20 years left at the start of the story
