Chapter 51 Part 2: Black House Gate
Black House Gate.
This was a non-wave mass gate that occurred a year after the Yeonhwado Gate was cleared.
However, I never entered it.
I was participating in another gate at the time. However, I heard about it in general.

At the time, I was busy dealing with the gate that might occur in the future, so I wasn’t interested in the gate that someone else had already cleared. I had a general idea of what monsters would come out of this gate, but I was disappointed that I didn’t have any information about the boss monster.
I wasn’t in the best shape, but I somehow managed to get there in time. It wasn’t hard to see the civilians walking around in casual clothes, and just as I was about to say something to warn them, my eyes flashed black immediately.

I was floating alone in the Black mass of space. I waved my hand around, but all I felt was a strange sensation.
It feels like I’m floating.
This feeling is quite familiar to me. When I’m floating in the air, I get this deafening feeling of fire crawling up my spine, like I’m going to fall somewhere.
But I wasn’t falling, just slowly sinking.
I couldn’t tell the difference between left and right, up and down, in this black space.
At that moment, the black sky was embroidered with stars. Clusters of light began to flow like a river overhead, like the Milky Way.
It was a beautiful sight.
Until I realized what it was.
A beam of light broke through the stream of light and stood in front of me.
Those seemingly divine and glorious creatures were monsters.
Monsters that were graded according to their numbers.
「Dream Fireflies」.
‘I think its level is enough for a B.’
I sliced through a few of the fireflies coming towards me with my sword, but there were still so many more coming my way.
An Individual Firefly alone is weak, but their numbers are its greatest weapon.
Their durability is weak, and their attacks aren’t terrible, but the problem is…!
“Ugh!”
One of the ones I didn’t dodge landed on my forearm.
A hook hidden underneath a glowing hull digs into it.
But I can barely feel the pain, instead I feel a rush of coziness and comfort.
‘No!’
I almost lose my grip on the Karambit as my muscles relax of their own accord.
If I lose my weapon in this darkness, I’m doomed.
I can’t pick it up again.

That’s why the difficulty of Dream Fireflies skyrockets up to Class A, depending on their numbers.
It releases chemicals that felt like a sedative.
No, it’s beyond that point where all you want to do is to lie on the floor and do nothing.

I cut as many as I can, as fast as I can, but I’m outnumbered.
My whole body shook with each slash.
My head is throbbing and my hands and feet are shaking.
I tried slashing at their grasp with a Karambit as I had done before, but it didn’t work.

Everything has been going so well so far, I thought I could change it all.
It would have been better if I had brought some iron armor. My mind is getting even more distant.

I thought, as one of them clung to the top of my spine. I could feel the potency of the drug, blurring my vision.
My stomach feels like it’s going to turn over, but strangely, my brain insists, ‘Just relaxed!’
It had stuck several shallow hooks into my arm, leaving a fine line of holes into my skin.
But once I ripped one off, I felt like I was going to live.
I stabbed the one on my right thigh. The light blinked immediately.
One, two, I counted to myself, and then boom, I ripped it off.

I could feel hot blood running down my thigh.
“Hah.. ha..” the sound of my ragged breathing echoed in my ears.
The pain was at least worth it.
After removing the rest of the fireflies, It finally eased my daze state, but only for a moment.
A flurry of light scattered again.

I fired my gun as fast as I could, but more were swept away than hit.
They rush in like a swarm of locusts, covering me.
‘I could feel them clinging to my body, including my arms and legs.’
