I don’t remember if the One-Eyed Cult originally talked about this, but I don’t think so.

I didn’t pay attention to the doctrines of these cults because I wasn’t really interested.

So I only learned about them when they caused social issues and appeared in the news.

Even then, I thought they were just people making noise that was unavoidable in a society where gates exist.

It was similar to the occasional hunter controversy, hunter regulation, and state attribution.

When I turned my head and looked at the place where the man was, he was already pushing another pamphlet while holding onto another person.

Most of the people took the pamphlets, and walked away looking annoyed.

It seems like it’s not the first time they’ve heard about the so-called ‘Invasion of other worlds’, and ‘The destruction of the earth.’

‘I guess, I was just not aware of it.’

Yeah.

Maybe I’m just a little sensitive right now.

Yeah, I guess that’s what their doctrine is supposed to be like.

‘It’s probably just a coincidence that the cult’s words, and reality overlapped…’

I smelled a faint scent of disinfectant, and a flamboyant-looking man was sitting down in the seat in front of me without saying a word.

I heard that he was still in rehabilitation.

“I heard about your Guild’s news. They said it’s finally active again.”

It was Lee Eun-Woo.

He then started the conversation lightly.

“And… I also heard about the bad news. At least the rough part of it…”

“I don’t really want to talk about it.”

He’s probably talking about Yeon-Won.

Even though The Netherworld Guild is a mid-tier guild, we were still quite known in the hunter society.

So when Pyo Hye-Won suddenly decided to suspend all Scouting operations, and withdrew from active duty, due to what happened to Yeon-Won, some people couldn’t help but get curious about it.

“I don’t know what exactly is going on, but it’s hard to make a move right now.”

“I know, but that doesn’t mean you can just stay that way forever.”

“…I guess not.”

“Why don’t you come with me to enter ‘That’ gate.”

I stared at him, intently.

The ‘Gate’, he was referring to was the new field-type gate.

Before it was officially named, I had heard that it was a wave gate, and that it caused relatively little damage.

“I heard you’re having trouble assembling clearing units due to the high level of difficulty.”

The scouting units reported that the difficulty level was quite high, this is why they were trying to recruit a lot of top-tier guilds.

Of course, since Lee Eun-Woo was from Blue Serpents, one of the top-tier guilds, he was also included.

Last I heard his rehabilitation is almost over, and people were surprised by his extremely fast recovery speed.

‘Just thinking about his guild’s atmosphere last time, I can’t help but be a little worried for him.’

He’s always been my trusted comrade-in-arms, and we’ve acknowledged each other’s abilities but we were never reliant on each other, so this feeling is also very new to me.

“The Netherworld Guild is not in a good position to participate in any Gate Clearing operation right now, you know.”

“Yes I know, but what I meant was you, not the Netherworld.”

That means that…

Lee Eun-Woo wanted to use his personal connections to put me into the clearing unit of the Blue Serpents, and enter the gate.

It’s not impossible for him.

That’s because his guild has a lot of influence when it comes to forming clearing units.

However…

“Why do you want to drag me into this? I’m not even a member of the Blue Serpents, I’m from the Netherworld.”

“I’m not sure, but that gun of yours, does it have the ability to negate damage?”

Lee Eun-Woo gave a quick glance at Noir, who was sitting idly by at my waist.

“We’ve only cooperated a couple of times but I felt that our combination was pretty good. My skills were mostly focused on area attacks, and your bullets have the ability to negate damage.”

That’s exactly what I felt when I was fighting that blue blood— I meant that vampire,

Or when we were fighting that Mutated Queen Ant— Our skills do match pretty well.

But to be honest, I’ve been bothered about this for a while now…

Why is Lee Eun-Woo so kind to me?

He’s younger than me, and we’ve worked together a couple of times, but he was mostly in a different class than me when we were in the academy, so we never did any assignments together, but we always hung out.

The more I thought about it, the weirder it felt.

“… I’ve been thinking about this lately.”

I saw him looking at me curiously.

“Why are you being so nice to me?”

“What do you mean?”

“If you put me in your clearing unit, and I make any mistakes, you’ll be taking all the blame for me. I know our skills are compatible, but it’s a little weird that you’re talking about a partnership when you’re the one taking the most risk.”

No matter how difficult the gate was, I didn’t think Lee Eun-Woo couldn’t find a way to clear it, and I’m sure he thought so too, so there’s no reason he’d want to drag me into it.

“You’re quite sharp.”

“Of course.”

“…I’d like to change the subject, but you won’t let me, right?”

“Of course not.”

His dark purple eyes darted around for a moment, started scanning the surroundings, then he lowered his voice a little, and spoke.

“Do you remember when we met Choi Seuk-Chul, right after the Gate Entry Qualification Test?”

“I remember, but we were barely friends then.”

“Yes. That’s right… But that’s when Choi Seuk-Chul said that we would see our most ‘Important’ memories.”

“That’s true, and I actually saw my own… Important memories.”

The memory of Hyewon-Unnie saving me…

And her, lying on the ground without any breath left.

Lee Eun-Woo stared at me for a moment, then lowered his eyes.

“I saw some memories, too.”

“I don’t see what that has anything to do with me.”

Our first meeting was at the Hunter Test this time, so the only memory he should have of me was of us killing the Mutant Queen Ant together.

And while that might have been a ‘Memorable’ memory for him, it didn’t carry enough weight for it to become his turning point.

In response to my question, he only stared at me, as if he had a lot to say, but all that came out of his mouth were carefully crafted and planned words.

“It wasn’t a memory I knew, it was a memory I’d never seen before, and in that memory… Han Seo-Ha… You were there, I saw you.”
