5th Month of the Year 3230, a month prior to the appearance of the Titan Wolf.
Another bestial rift opened within the outer districts of the Shen City, although the reports initially stated it to be around 4-star Rift Threat, not many paid that much attention to it as it was far from the residential district.
The case regarding the Titan Wolf only raised concern due to it appearing near the property of the Xin Corporation. However, opposite to what happened with the bestial rift that spawned the Titan Wolf, the beasts that spawned here were way weaker than what was anticipated; only wolf beasts that were within the range of 0-1 star threats appeared.
It did not take long before low ranked New Humans disposed of the threat, and the rift, with ease.

"... And if my guess was correct, you're supposed to be the leader of that previous bestial rift party? Ah, I know you couldn't talk or understand me and all that, but at the least, I feel glad that my hunch was correct."
As a zero star New Human, Xenith wasn't capable of fighting against threats head-on. All he ever did was sit back and wait for the opportune moment to strike. Although it only had been a month and a half since he discovered that he was, in fact, a New Human; he had "helped" quite a lot during different operations.

Although it was a common thing to see one's status page, it was certainly another thing to peek through the status of an opponent.
Xenith himself was unsure as to how he was capable of doing so, but he dismissed it as something that might correlate to the "Gift of the Rift". He had not tested out anything unique from said innate trait, but it was excusable as he was not used to being a New Human in the first place.
That said, he was able to know a thing or to about his innate talent, "Experience Equals Mastery" — '... But I have to gain a distance first to be able to do a thing'
Glaring down at him was the Titan Wolf. It wasn't doing anything, however…
'Ah, the few advantages of being extremely weak. I am not even threatening for this injured beast. Damn, I don't know how to feel about this…' Timidly moving a few steps back, away from the Titan Wolf, Xenith created a gap wide enough for him to be able to do his "thing".

Slowly reaching for a plastic-wrapped stick of bread from his grocery bag, Xenith was able to hold on to something that he could actually use to fight back.
It was certainly not the way a New Human should fight, and it certainly was an unorthodox method to even kill and deal damage to an opponent, but this was something that he could easily master. So it certainly did not matter to him—

Hurling the stick of bread with all his might, Xenith felt exasperated. 'Hope this works'. Without skipping a beat, he dashed forward, heading straight to where the Titan Wolf was.

The unexpected turn of event where a 0-star New Human dared attack him baffled the Titan Wolf. With a menacing glare, he caught the speeding stick of bread with his jaws wide open…

Shattered teeth resounded upon impact, baffling the Titan Wolf even further, 'How could a piece of bread be this hard!', If the Titan Wolf would be able to voice out his confusion, he would not hesitate in doing so.
What surprised him, even more, was that the 0-star New Human that appeared from out of nowhere was now brazenly provoking him, directly charging at him with speeds he could easily monitor, 'What is this human doing? He runs so slow…'
Speed did not matter, however, as the Titan Wolf could not seemingly move its jaws anymore… 'Yes! It worked!' Xenith celebrated.
He obviously did not falter on his steps, albeit he was already slow, to begin with. With his palms wide open, he bravely grabbed both the legs of the still distracted Titan Wolf.
"Grocery Grip!"

HP: 2,000/10,000… HP: 1,900/10,000… HP: 1,800/10,000
"Hehehe, it's working!" Xenith celebrated once more. He could clearly see that his Grocery Grip was somehow dealing damage against the Titan Wolf. But this wasn't exactly the right time to laugh and rejoice. He was barely dealing a hundred damage per second, but the Titan Wolf still has over a thousand HP left.
*Growl!*
The pain coming from down under insinuated the tight grip being done by Xenith. This further angered the Titan Wolf, who was still languishing from the pain coming from his mouth. Shattered teeth, and now broken leg bones; 'Am I a joke to this weakling?' The Titan Wolf bellowed once more, scaring the tightly gripping Xenith.
*Roar!*
'A few seconds more…'
Sirens coming from a distance suddenly resounded, startling both Xenith and the Titan Wolf. S.R.R.F., Special Rift Response Forces, are a government-based group of armed New Humans specialized in responding against threats that private organizations and individual New Humans could not handle.
'Tsk, this isn't the thing I am asking to buy me some time…' Although they could technically help him out, the S.R.R.F. are not known for being light towards independent New Humans like Xenith.
If they were to arrive and deal the finishing blow, Xenith would obviously not get anything from all the hard work he just did. 'Tsk… This isn't the time to think much…'
Throwing his body towards the pile of dirt driven New Humans that were still alive, yet unmoving, Xenith chose to play dead. If he could not deal with the Titan Wolf all by himself, might as well not get harmed any further. It was already apparent that the beast was extremely agitated at this point.
At the next second, the special forces have arrived.
New Humans that are armed to the teeth with special types of equipment to quickly deal with threats that are beyond their ranks soon entered the construction site.
Most of them were still just 1-star New Humans, barely a tenth of their numbers were 2-stars— But they are more than capable of dealing against a heavily injured 4-star Rift Threat.
"Surround that beast immediately! Do not mind the others that are down, just focus all your attention into dealing with it as fast as possible." Sgt. Kang commanded the special troop, moving them into position as soon as they spotted the target.
Even though the Titan Wolf was still agitated by what Xenith did, he could not simply ignore the arrival of another group of New Humans.

Another loud cry and the Titan Wolf had set its eyes towards the new targets.
The fluctuations of energy coming from the rift could mean two things for the Titan Wolf. Either its closing soon, leaving him behind— Or it would collapse, sucking him back in. The latter would be the best scenario.

The fight had gone on for over an hour; just mostly the Titan Wolf evading attacks from the New Humans, using its unfathomable stamina instead of tanking with its limited HP;
The rift had slowly become unstable over the past minutes… leading to believe that it would collapse instead of properly closing down.
This was what the Titan Wolf was aiming for from the start of the fight.

Of course, evading wasn't really the best option in such an enclosed perimeter, and if the Titan Wolf had gone too far away from the bestial rift, his chance of being sucked back in would have grown even less.

The rumbling coming from the rift echoed loudly, enough to scare the special forces currently surrounding the Titan Wolf. None of them were injured, but after a dragged out fight in such a rugged manner, most of them were already exhausted.
Catching their breath while waiting as to what would happen to the rift, they steadily gazed at the Titan Wolf, keenly observing the situation. Sgt. Kang obviously relayed the instructions beforehand, and have assessed that staying still was the best choice.
'If the rift closes down, we could easily finish this isolated beast right after. But if we charge right now and it collapses, we would get sucked in as well…' He pondered. Sgt. Kang was no fool, he would obviously choose the safest route possible.
*Crack!*
A sonic boom followed by a loud crack resounded from the rift once more, signifying that it was indeed about to collapse. With a smirking face, bearing its broken fangs, the Titan Wolf slowly backed its feet, moving towards the bestial rift.
The special forces did not dare chase, however.
They obviously know the consequences of doing so… but, Xenith was just a newly awakened New Human; he had no clue as to what was really going on, as he had never heard of a collapsing rift.
He had heard the news regarding New Humans annihilating monsters and beasts coming out of rifts— ultimately closing out said rifts. Or the other way around; where the monsters would overwhelm the group of New Humans and that place with the rift with it would forcefully become a danger zone— Isolated from the rest of the world.
… But as for a "tied" fight, Xenith had no idea if it was even possible.
'Tsk… what a waste. I could have gotten that beast if it weren't for the interruption.' Xenith rebuked. He could really use the extra cash from selling the monster's core.
'Gramps would really be disappointed, I wasn't even able to buy the correct energy snack bar for him…' Xenith muttered whilst still playing dead. It had been around an hour since he lied down. It was getting uncomfortable.
Glancing at the bag still clutched tightly on his right hand, containing the wrong snack bars, a rather "brilliant" idea suddenly popped in Xenith's head—
The Titan Wolf, ever slowly backing away from the special forces, suddenly felt an ominous force aiming towards him…
A bag of snack bars, hurling towards him at a blinding speed, suddenly appeared!

'Wait—- Wha— What happened?' The sudden disappearance of the Titan Wolf whilst the rift was still open baffled Sgt. Kang and the rest of the special forces.
The situation only became clear to them when the monster core of the Titan Wolf suddenly floated towards a "corpse" steadily laying down on the ground. "Yes! Got it!... Eh…"
*Rumble* *Rumble* *Rumble!*
Instead of being able to celebrate the successful acquisition of the Titan Wolf's core, Xenith could not help but notice and be bothered by the loud rumbling of the bestial rift…
It was somehow still there, but… It was exerting a sucking force so strong that Xenith could barely stand erect. "Ah!..." Arms reaching the monster core, Xenith immediately lost his footing— ultimately losing his balance, tripping forward as the force of the collapsing rift slowly sucked him in...
