"After this, I want the lighting to be dimmer, resembling the color scheme of the house, but still discernible, creating a somber and weighty atmosphere. Do you understand?" David Fincher patted the shoulder of the lighting technician, stressing his instructions.

"Alright, David, no need to be nervous. This may be your first time directing a film, but you've got this," Bonari his trusted friend and frequent collaborator, assured him aware of his thoughts.

"Hey, who said I'm nervous?" David leaned forward, spreading his hands in a gesture of annoyance.

"Alright, you're not nervous. It's just my imagination," Bonari conceded, raising his hands in surrender. David's towering height of nearly 6 feet over Bonari's 5 feet 5 inches always felt imposing, so when David acted in such a manner, Bonari had no choice but to acquiesce.

Fortunately, at that moment, the script supervisor approached. "Director, Mr. Al Pacino has arrived."

"Alright, I'll be right there." David nodded, giving Bonari another reminder before making his way toward the house.

In the open ground in front of the house, Al Pacino had just removed his sunglasses and was engaged in conversation with his assistant. With his chiseled features, he emanated a strong sense of masculinity, yet a gentle smile adorned his face. As townspeople passing by recognized him, they rushed over, requesting autographs.

"Hey, Al, how have you been lately?" David approached and shook hands with Al.

"Same as always. And you, finally pick up the camera to direct a film. If recall correctly, just six months ago you were still shooting MTV videos for Madonna." Al laughed heartily, patting David's shoulder.

"You said it's my first time, so..." David shrugged, giving him a glance that conveyed, "You'll see."

"Alright, alright, I'll follow your lead. Whatever you say, I'll support you wholeheartedly." Al burst into laughter once again, before inquiring, "So, should I proceed with getting my makeup done and start the test shoot now?"

"We'll have to wait a few more minutes. The crew is still adjusting the equipment, and besides, your daughter who is both the screenwriter and plays the role of Emily hasn't arrived yet. She called 20 minutes ago mentioning her car had broken down," David shrugged once again.

"Screenwriter... daughter?" Al appeared puzzled.

"Yes, that's Angela Mason. She is the screenwriter and also portrays Emily," David explained, giving him a perplexed look. "If Warner Bros. didn't make it clear to you, it should have been mentioned in the screenwriter section, right?"

"Are you saying that the screenwriter Angela Mason and the actress Angela Mason, who plays Emily, are the same person?" Al touched his nose. "So you're saying that the rumors about the genius girl are true?"

"Don't you believe it?"

"A girl who's 11 or 12 years old? It's hard to believe!"

"To be honest, I didn't believe it either. Even though I've heard James Cameron mention her on multiple occasions, talking about how this girl wrote and acted in《The Parent Trap》and offered insightful and brilliant comments on《Terminator 2》at a party. He even mentioned how she came up with a high-quality story within minutes. But I always thought it was exaggerated until I read the original script for 'Hide and Seek,'" David paused, recollecting, and then continued, "I was astounded. The writing was seamless, and the shots were meticulously planned. It showcased not only creativity but also included the director's notes that perfectly matched my preferences! There truly are geniuses in this world, aren't there?"

"Hey, David..."

"No, no, no, Al, don't doubt my abilities. Even though I've only directed MTV, I still have a good eye for things."

"No, David, that's not what I meant. I was actually going to say that you seemed... mesmerized by her just now."

"What?" David's mouth dropped open as he looked at Al. There was a seriousness in Al's expression that made him wonder if there was something more to it. But when he caught the mischievous glint in Al's eyes, he realized he was being teased and burst into laughter.

"Alright, David, let's hope that this young genius's acting skills are as remarkable as her screenwriting skills," Al said, spreading his hands with a smile. Just then, a clear voice interrupted them, saying, "If even a father can't trust his own daughter, then this world is truly scary."

Both men turned to see a little girl standing there. Her eyes sparkled like precious emeralds, hinting at a world of wisdom beyond her age. A mischievous smile played on her adorable face, radiating joy and curiosity. Her golden hair was neatly tied up in a ponytail, adding to her lively and spirited appearance.

Confidently, she extended her hand to David Fincher. "Hello, Mr. Fincher, I'm Angela Mason. I apologize for being a few minutes late. Our car broke down on the way, so we had to take a taxi."

"Hello, Miss Mason, I'm glad you're here. I think we can start shooting soon," David said, shaking Angela's hand. Before he could introduce Al, Angela interjected, "I know, this is my father - just say the word, and he'll love me."

Al looked at the little girl in astonishment. This line was a clever twist on his classic line from "The Godfather." She had seen "The Godfather"? Did her father allow her to watch it?

Angela, aware of Al's thoughts, playfully raised her finger. "《Rain Man,》《Heat,》《Dog Day Afternoon,》《Serpico,》《...And Justice for All,》《The Odd Couple,》《Scarface,》《Revolution,》《Scent of a Woman,》《Donnie Brasco,》and《The Godfather,》trilogy. I've watched them all, except for《Bobby Deerfield,》because it's hard to find a VHS tape."

"Wow, Al, it seems Miss Mason here is a devoted fan of yours," David exclaimed.

"Of course, so..." Angela smoothly retrieved a notebook and pen from her backpack and handed it to Al Pacino.

"Well, I must say, you've surprised me, or should I say amazed me," Al said, touching his nose in disbelief. He accepted the notebook and signed his name. "To be honest, I've never had such a young fan before."

"Now you do." Angela beamed with happiness as she took back her notebook.

"So, when you watched these movies, were your parents with you?" Al asked, his gaze filled with genuine concern.

Angela understood his concern. Al's movies were mostly not rated G, a few were PG-13, and most were R-rated, which meant viewers under 17 needed to be accompanied by an adult. It was natural for Al to inquire about her experiences, as he wanted to ensure that she hadn't been exposed to inappropriate content at a young age.

The young girl hesitated for a moment, her lips pursed as she contemplated her response. "Well, to be honest... no, they weren't always with me. But I want you to know that I have a strong sense of self-awareness and a clear worldview. I can differentiate between what's good and what's bad. I understand the consequences of my actions."

Al nodded his expression a mixture of surprise and admiration. "Miss Mason, you continue to impress me."

"If you don't mind, please call me Angela," the girl replied, her voice slightly lowered as she glanced at Spilo, the taxi driver who was approaching them. "And please, let's keep today's events confidential, alright?"

"Of course, Angela. Can I just say that you're quite extraordinary for someone your age?" Al said with a warm smile.

"I don't want to consider myself exceptional, but..." Angela shrugged helplessly, a hint of frustration in her expression. Al couldn't resist patting her head affectionately.

Just then, David returned after being called away by the crew. "Alright, you two, it's time to get your makeup done. We'll be rehearsing Scene 5 of Shot 15."

"Alright, got it," Al replied, glancing at Angela. "Come on, let's go get our makeup done. Are you excited?"

Angela stuck out her tongue mischievously. "I can't wait to meet a mafia godfather-like father."

Despite her playful remark, when Al finished his makeup and emerged in different attire, it still surprised the young girl. The transformation was remarkable. While Al Pacino and most middle-aged men might look ordinary, once he tidied his hair, put on glasses, and donned casual clothes, he became an entirely different person—gentle, polite, and exuding a refined aura. There was a subtle urgency in his demeanor that perfectly suited the role of the father in the play.

Although the makeup artist played a part, it was primarily Al himself who underwent this remarkable transformation. Angela, who was aware of his reputation as a method actor, couldn't help but be amazed when witnessing his talent firsthand. She recalled hearing about how both Al Pacino and Robert De Niro went to great lengths to immerse themselves in the lives of their characters, ensuring authentic portrayals.

De Niro, for instance, had undergone intensive boxing training and even participated in real matches, earning notable recognition in the sport. It was no wonder that De Niro's portrayal in《Hide and Seek》would be distinctly different from his role in《Heat.》

Al's transformation alone showcased his exceptional talent, on par with De Niro himself. It was no wonder that people often associated the two legendary actors and mentioned them in the same breath

They were truly like twin stars, shining brightly in their own right. However, while Angela also admired De Niro, Al Pacino held a special place in her heart, particularly due to his suitability for the Eastern aesthetic. That's why she had specifically requested Al to portray her father, considering her own role as his daughter.

Yet, as Angela watched Al, who had already taken his place on the set, doubt started to creep into her mind.

Would she be able to hold her own and deliver a performance alongside such an accomplished actor without feeling overshadowed?
