Chapter 85: Each One has their own Thoughts

"Give my regards to Mrs. Beckinsale, as well as your college roommate. I wish your thesis receives an A+, with no mistakes. Remember to send me a letter every month. Most importantly, you promised me that you'll come and visit me next summer vacation." In the airport hall, Angela held Kate's hand and spoke incessantly, as if she wouldn't let go until she had emptied all her thoughts.

This left Natalie feeling speechless and after glancing at the clock in the hall, she had to interrupt, saying, "Angie, if you don't let go soon, Kate will become a part of the New York airport's missed flights record."

Angela sighed and finally released her grip. "Alright, Kate, have a safe journey," she said.

She really didn't want to let Kate go like this. She had been trying to find ways to persuade Kate to stay a few more days. However, an unexpected call from home ruined her plans. Jennifer told her that two directors were looking for her. One of them was Luc Besson, who highly praised the theme song Angela sent him and expressed interest in purchasing it.

Angela sneered at that, she had sent the theme song back in April and now he was calling her back, showing that Luc Besson hadn't taken it seriously from the beginning. It was evident that he didn't believe in her talent. Besides, he didn't even mention anything about film scoring! - Clearly, the young girl overlooked the fact that it was impossible for the other party to know she was Miss AM.

Regarding this matter, Angela believed her parents would handle it, so she didn't need to worry too much. However, the other director was not that simple. The renowned Michael Mann had called her home through Warner, hoping to find some time to talk to her. This surprised the young girl, and it was obvious that Michael Mann had only one thing in mind -《Heat.》

It had been a few months since she asked Paul Tucker to deliver that café scene to Michael Mann, and Angela had long given up hope. But now, why was Michael Mann looking for her? This question made the young girl rush back to Los Angeles. So, despite her reluctance, she had to let Kate go.

"Don't worry, Angie. We'll see each other again at Christmas," Kate smiled and gently patted Angela's hand. Then, she suddenly squatted down, embraced Angela, pressed her cheek against hers and closed her eyes. "Thank you, Angie."

Angela knew what Kate wanted to say, but she didn't believe it was her doing. She had merely said a few words in front of the director. If the director didn't already think she was suitable, no amount of talking would change that. The main credit went to Kate's own charm.

Speaking of which, Angela had planned to use her limited connections to help Kate find a role, gain some recognition in Hollywood and then have a script tailor-made for her, step by step keeping her in Hollywood and by her side. Unfortunately, now she couldn't use this accidental opportunity to play a role in 《Scent of a Woman.》 It was truly a pity.

Nevertheless, it didn't matter, there would always be opportunities. Angela comforted herself with this thought and then hugged Kate tightly, whispering in her ear, "I love you, Kate."

Kate didn't answer but looked deeply into Angela's eyes and suddenly kissed her lips. It was a brief, electrifying touch that left Angela feeling stunned.

"Okay, I'm leaving. Remember to send me the developed photos," Kate said as she stood up, picked up her luggage, and walked towards the entrance, blending into the bustling crowd.

It was only after Kate's figure was no longer visible that Angela came back to her senses. She sighed heavily, unsure whether it was out of regret or helplessness.

"Your relationship is really good," Natalie said beside her.

Angela glanced at her and suddenly turned around, cupping Natalie's face, and planted a deep kiss on her lips. Natalie's eyes widened, feeling at a loss for a moment. It wasn't until they separated that she blushed slightly and glared at Angela, biting her teeth as she whispered, "What are you doing! This is an airport lounge!"

"Kate left, and I'm sad. Since she kissed me before leaving, I thought I should kiss you too," Angela shrugged.

"Oh God, what kind of logic is this?" Natalie couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time.

"Do you think anyone would care if two girls kissed each other in this bustling place?" Angela surveyed the hall and then focused on several couples who were meeting each other. "Look, they are kissing too and nobody says anything."

"But they are couples."

"Then you can consider me your partner, Nat. I don't mind. How about we have another kiss right now?"

"An! Ge! La!" Natalie emphasized each syllable, staring at her.

Angela closed her mouth, showing a slightly melancholic expression. After a moment, she sighed stomped her foot and said, "Nat, my flight won't depart for another two hours. Can you spend some time with me?"

"Of course, I came here to see you off anyway," Natalie nodded, surprised by Angela's expression, which piqued her curiosity.

"That's great!" Angela's face immediately brightened, making people seriously wonder if she had been acting just now.

She clapped her hands. "Then let's go outside and find Mr. Wenger. I know there's a nice ice cream shop near the airport. We can go there and have some food while we wait."

Faced with Angela's beaming smile, Natalie suddenly felt like she had been tricked. However, it was too late to say anything now, so as Angela excitedly pulled her along, she could only sigh in frustration in her heart, vowing to be more careful next time.

...

Amidst the creaking sounds, the scenery in front continuously swung up and down, making the girl sitting on the swing burst into giggles.

Jessica sat on a bench in the community park, swaying her legs and pretending to look at the swing not far away, but her focus wasn't on it, she was clearly thinking about something else.

It had been almost a month, and Angela hadn't even given her a call. Was she mad? Jessica pondered, feeling embarrassed about what happened that night. The tricks she played on Angela were merely things she accidentally learned from Jamie's sister next door.

The evening didn't turn out as Jessica had expected. She had witnessed Jamie's sister and her boyfriend being intimate in the kitchen through the window, giving her some ideas. Later that night, she playfully tried some of those moves on Angela, but it backfired, leading to Angela's tears. It was truly frustrating for Jessica.

"I swear it wasn't intentional, I was just retaliating. Angela was teasing me first," Jessica reassured herself in her mind. There was something about Angela that drew her in and the alluring fragrance from Angela's body made it difficult for her to resist the urge to be close to her. "It's not entirely my fault, right?" Jessica pondered.

However, the fact remained that Angela cried. Though she agreed to visit Jessica the next morning, there was a noticeable change in her behavior. She avoided making eye contact, leaving Jessica to wonder what was going on.

"Could it be that she's worried I might get pregnant?" Jessica sighed, propping her face with her hand as she continued to mull over the situation.

Once a person gets something on their mind, they tend to overanalyze and dwell on various trivial matters they had never thought of before. These small issues get blown out of proportion and turn into inexplicable worries, just like with Jessica. Even during summer vacation, it's not unusual for friends not to contact each other for a month, especially if they see each other every day. But overall, Jessica's overthinking can be attributed to her having other thoughts occupying her mind, although she adamantly refuses to admit it.

"Jessie, won't you come play for a while?" the girl who was on the swing asked as she ran over, her forehead glistening with fine beads of sweat, making her look exhilarated.

"No, Lindsay, I'm fine sitting here and watching," Jessica shook her head.

"Why? Did you come to the park just to watch others play?" Lindsay shrugged.

"I'm... thinking about something, about... Angela," Jessica hesitated but finally spoke up.

"Angela? She's not at home now," Lindsay said, bouncing on the spot. Despite appearing polite in front of adults, she was like a wild cat when they were not around, full of boundless energy.

"Did you go to her house or did you call her?" Jessica asked.

"I wanted to go directly, but Angela asked me to call before coming over. So, I made a call first and the housekeeper told me that Angela went to New York," Lindsay said, sitting down next to Jessica with a hint of desolation in her tone. Jessica was well aware of what was going on, she lived not too far from Lindsay, so she knew more about her family than Angela did.

"I didn't know she went to New York," Jessica replied casually, not wanting to pry into her family matters.

"How could you not know she went to New York? You're so close, how could she not tell you?" Lindsay suddenly asked with a curious expression, as if wanting to hear some juicy gossip.

"Well, I'm not sure. Maybe she forgot," Jessica mumbled.

"Really? Are you sure something didn't happen between you two?" Lindsay blinked her eyes, eagerly waiting for Jessica to spill the beans.

"We...," Jessica hesitated and then, almost involuntarily, whispered about what happened that night.

"You think Angela is mad at you and not talking to you?" Lindsay said, her eyes darting around, her excited face flushing. "I have an idea. Want to hear it?"

"An idea?" Jessica looked somewhat wary, wondering if it was a mistake to tell Lindsay about this.

"Angela promised to come to your house, right? When she does..." Lindsay lowered her voice and shared her plan with Jessica, whose expression immediately turned peculiar. "What are you suggesting? What is this?"

"Trust me, Jessie, it'll be fine, and I'll be there too," Lindsay declared, puffing her chest out.

'Yeah, that's what makes me worried.' Jessica muttered to herself, and after some thought, Lindsay continued, "Okay, when Angela comes, we can do some tests first. If everything goes well, then we can proceed with... that."

After much hesitation, Jessica finally nodded. "Fine, let's do it like that!"

And so, this plan, later called shameless, inhumane, and deserving of divine punishment by Angela, was set in motion!
